Summary
Max felt it before he saw it—the brush of air, the sudden wrongness at his wrist.
“What the—”
The moped was already accelerating, a blur of movement and noise, the rider leaning low as they tore down the street. Max stared, stunned, at his bare wrist.
For half a second, nobody moved. “Putain de merde,” Charles snapped.
“Hey!” one of the fans shouted, too late.
“That’s my—” Max started, then stopped, blinking. His watch was gone. Just like that. Snatched cleanly off his wrist. Wasn’t sleight-of-hand for magicians?
Charles was already backing away, keys in hand.
“Charles,” Max said, still dazed. “It’s fine. It’s just—”
“No,” Charles said, and there was nothing polite about his voice now. His jaw was set, eyes already tracking the direction the moped had gone. “No, absolutely not.”
“Charles,” Max repeated, more urgently this time. “You don’t need to—”
“I do,” Charles said. He grabbed Max’s sleeve briefly. “Get in the car.”
Max hesitated. “This is insane.”
“Yes,” Charles agreed. “I know.”

Charles losing his shit because someone stole something from Max, someone touched him, was something ridiculously hot. Like. The smut was hot, yeah but. The chase was hotter because that man does not play about Max.
-He touched you.
The words replayed in Max’s head, unfamiliar and hot. Someone had put their hands on Max and Charles had lost his mind over it. He felt them in his mouth, rolling them over his tongue like he could somehow understand Charles if he could wrap his mind around this singular sentence.

Summary
Oscar had, at some point, become a piece of furniture.
That wasn’t a complaint. Just an observation. Like noticing the weather had turned or that the apples in hospitality were bad again.
George Russell had apparently decided that wherever Oscar was standing was the correct place to be. This was true at national anthems, in the paddock, in the media pen, and—most impressively—exactly when Oscar was attempting to film something for McLaren’s social channels.
Every race weekend, without fail, George found him. Especially if he needed an umbrella.

Summary
Please don’t send me an arse of a teammate, he had pleaded. For the love of all that is holy, don’t go and cock it all up now.
George knew Toto always had options. Backroom conversations, quiet lunches, the odd promising junior hovering just out of sight, drivers with resumes hot off the presses or egos already calcified by a seat they hadn’t earned. The thought of who he might be paired with, compared to mild-mannered, dependable Lewis, made his skin crawl.
As the season wore on, the speculation only grew. Pundits promised answers by summer shutdown. Fans demanded certainty. George waited. Nothing came.
Then, come Zandvoort, Mercedes announced an FP1 outing for Toto’s bloodthirsty Formula 2 protégé in George’s car despite Lewis being the one he was meant to replace, which felt personal, frankly.
And on Friday night, in front of a home crowd drunk on orange smoke and seawater, Mercedes finally made it official.
18-year-old Max Verstappen would be the next driver to wear the Silver Arrows.

Has got to be THE most insane piece of fan literature written for Russtappen and should be a fandom heirloom. Fandom heritage piece. Fandom equivalent of UNESCO site.
Plot twists had plot twists. You think you know something but you dont know anything at all. Nothing ever mentioned or said is just simply there. And in between all of this you have the natural progression of their relationship. It came so naturally that I understand George's obliviousness 100%.
That's a lie. He's still an idiot but hes also very very smart and precious and very very Max's.

Max stopped, facing George. "You keep calling me darling and sweetheart and my love. You keep touching me like you have the right. You keep looking at me like I'm something precious. You keep saying you love me every single day like it's the easiest thing in the world. And I hate how much I need it. How much I wait for it. How wrong it felt that one time you almost forgot." -

Mercedes makes its choice: Max Verstappen comes in. George Russell goes out.

George Russell didn’t plan to want anything this season.
Not Max Verstappen’s attention. Not Oscar Piastri’s quiet loyalty. Not the dangerous relief of being seen by one man and protected by another. As victories stack and the world closes in, George is forced to confront the cost of visibility and the difference between being desired, being claimed and being chosen.

Not Max friendly, not really. But it's a really good fic that studies how cold George can be when pushed to the edge. I love the dynamic between him and Oscar - its like Oscar is an island amidst rough seas because of how solid he is. There's no push and pull with him, just a presence that George rotates to like the sun.
Man. I need that geoscar endgame. It has to be. George's crashout suggests nothing else.
-
“You threw the car into the wall,” George whispers, voice dropping into something intimate and almost sweet, their faces barely a hand’s width apart, his breath hitting Max’s parted lips, “because you know, deep down, that I have a connection with Oscar, you hit him because you would rather kill someone on track than admit to yourself you wanted to be in his place.”

Summary
Ever since George clawed his way into Formula One, it was clear that he and Max Verstappen were like oil and water, two people destined to clash no matter what. The constant fighting, the cold dislike, the conflict was an inevitability. And as far as George was concerned, it was impossible for it to be any other way.
And then he wakes up.

There's so much to talk about. So many good scenes. Love how Max is just ever so patient with George, love how George can't help but gravitate to Max, love how complex these characters are, adore how Alex and Lando play their part in this fic. It was a roller coaster.
I'll always remember George crying quietly in the car, the first time Max sees him as something other than simply George, #63. And another great scene with George and Max really talking -again in a car- as Max drove and George being ever so gentle with him.

Toto’s voice floated from behind him. “Everything all right?”
George must have heard, because he said, “Is that Toto?”
“Yes.”
“Tell him I am not a logistics item.”
Max looked over his shoulder at Toto.
“George says he is not a logistics item.”
Toto smiled faintly. “Tell George I have never once thought he was a logistics item.”
George said through the phone, “He’s lying.”
Max repeated, “He says you are lying.”
Toto’s smile widened. “Tell him I miss him too.”

This was stressful, this was concerning, this was alarming, this was everything. Once again, Alex is my favourite person because his reaction was so valid, his anger, his fear, his spiralling because his best friend was missing, was one of the best part of this fic.
The Quartet, all of them, their absolute devastation and subsequent quiet fall-out because the center was gone? Punch to the gut.
There wasn't much Toto, but oh when he showed at the end bits, you could just tell that the man is barely holding onto his senses.
Above all though - George. Just. George. Still brave, still strong, still impossibly stubborn and cutting and ridiculous. I love him best.
Shout out to OC Ingrid btw I want to her friend.
--
George looked at her. “Please don’t write it in a way that makes me sound like a medically compromised idiot with Stockholm syndrome.”
Ingrid’s mouth moved very slightly. “I will use more precise language.”
“Thank you.”

No one could be as lucky as George. Pregnant, a university student in a foreign country — and with the very real possibility that the baby’s potential fathers will assume it’s nothing more than a poorly executed baby-trap.
Five weeks earlier, during the Spanish Grand Prix, George was working at a crowded pub and ended up having two intense nights with two complete strangers. The only thing he knew about them were their names.

There was a painful and humbling gratitude settling in George’s chest like a storm. He had been, by some impossible grace, the one standing at the epicenter of this collapse. And in that chaos, he had become the shelter. It was a sacred, terrible privilege to hold the space where this pain could finally be felt.

Hello, Max.” Charles greets with a grin after looking up from his phone. “You took too long to come back.”Alex and Lando look up as well, smiling like they are in a secret.
He closes the door behind him, only taking a step in since there isn’t much room to begin with, even less with four fully grown men hanging about. The little couch seats them uncomfortably close.
Alex in the middle, leaning back, long legs stretched open. Lando to his right, sitting on the cushion but his legs are hanging over the armrest. And Charles sits on the other armrest, arm perched on the backrest to hold his head up, looking at Max curiously.

It wasn’t the penalty, or the fight, or even the words said to the reporters.
It was the cosmic void left by the one thing missing.
It was the unanswered texts that were disguised pleas.
It was the quiet moment after the confetti was swept and the cake was cut:
The moment George realized he was never the sun, only in orbit, able to drift away with nobody noticing the dimming light in their sky.For Max, it was simpler. He didn’t realize silence could sound like goodbye.
Months later, under the lights, the debris of things unsaid, and the bitter taste of champagne, the stars finally collide.

This fic and I have unfinished business - I have a bone to pick with this fic with the writing with the author with everything. Proceed with caution.
The story telling, the structure, the POV shifts - it all feels like a well written 2000s romantic movie. If I had to pick a movie that gave me the closest feel to it, it would be One Day. Its just. The tragedy of being the right person but wrong time. Too little, too late, too much.
Missing each other. Missing the person you thought would always be there. Missing the person who removed themselves from your life because they realised they shouldn't have to fight for scraps.

This is amazing from start to finish - how G was rightfully frightful with Max and Max grovelling because thats how I like him. But out of all the amazing bits, it's Toto and Alex's scenes that I keep remembering haha
that line from Toto about liking Maxs lap times doesn't mean he wants the idiot to father G's baby lmao and Alex plotting murder under his breath? A little oops didnt see him there?? Lewis would've been all in, im sure.

“I’m George,” the guy – George – says, not offering a hand. “Nice weather out here, don’t know how you race like this.”
Max is busy staring at the pearly whites blinding him. There’s no way this guy hasn’t had work done. Lips like those, plump and pouty, would probably burst if Max bit on them. The paddock has become a cesspool of influencers and celebrities since Netflix came in with their cameras, but it still rubs Max the wrong way, how they prance around knowing nothing about racing and offering their inane opinions.
“It’s fine,” he dismisses, gripping the ball. “I’m good at what I do.”
“I’m sure you are,” George says, flashing another cookie-cutter smile. “Good luck on Sunday, then.”

Oh I have such a delicate spot for this one. Max oh Max. And George. Strong, solid George.
--
He does look pleased when Max rebuffs him, a little turned on when Max tips fifty percent. That’s okay too because Max gets a little aroused as well. He feels like a man, not the man his dad tells him to be, the man who takes and conquers and asserts his masculinity with force, but a man who provides and takes care of his own.
It’s never felt good with women, because that had felt like a performance. An obligation. With George, he wants to do it, to be a man for him. And that feels good.
