Summary
Midoriya Izuku doesn't want to be the spawn of evil incarnate, but these things happen.
When Izuku unleashes his powers to save his best friend, Bakugou Katsuki, the universe isn't too happy with him. The universe kind of wants him dead, actually. But the Guardian of Humanity offers him a deal: If Izuku works for him, working to protect humankind from the monsters that his father unleashes upon them, if Izuku can prove that he's not evil like his father, then him and Katsuki get to keep their lives.
Or: Izuku and Katsuki road-trip around the country fighting monsters, being absolute idiots, and maybe falling in love.

This was a slippery slope. Slipperier than growing too comfortable on Erid and in the house with Grace. Slipperier than falling into the wrong crowd on Eden and ending up in prison. Slipperier than the blood as it poured in through the gashes of the submarine.

Simon wakes up in an unknown place with the scars of his previous life etched onto his skin. As he struggles to pull himself into focus, and listen to the angel living here who's spouting off information, he realizes that the C.O.I. and Eden can no longer reach him. As Simon attempts to get used to his new appearance from his time in the submarine and understand the man guiding him through this new life, Simon realizes that he may have a bigger problem to deal with. The pain from his injuries is manageable, it's the newfound knot in his stomach that's confusing. While Grace is focused on how Simon even ended up on Erid in the first place, Simon spends his time focused on a much brighter, more bubbly individual...

“I don’t一” Simon’s voice is soft and broken and he hates it, he hates the fear permeating his entire body. “I don’t want you to be a hallucination.”
Grace’s faint mumbles and a strange whistling voice die down. Then Grace says, “This is real. It’s real, and we’re getting you out. I promise.”
Simon closes his eyes. He breathes out.

Summary
Simon wakes slowly, booting up one atom at a time. The first thing he registers is that he's pleasantly warm— not the suffocating heat of whatever iron lung they had sent him down to die in. The second thing he registers is the plushness of whatever surface he's lying on. There's no harsh metal boiling against his skin. He doesn't immediately open his eyes. His brain feels syrupy and full of fog all at once, and he finds it rather nice to just exist in this soft in-between. He'd done good, hadn't he? Was this Heaven? He died on that ship, in the mouth of a vengeful beast that couldn't recognize its own ghastlyness. Heaven was nice, Simon decided. He liked Heaven.
