Aziraphale was it for Crowley. That beautiful, intelligent, hilarious, moronic, stupid, clever angel was his soulmate. At first, in the beginning after he fell, he wondered if demons even had a soul, but just the way his heart seemed to glow from simply just standing nearby to his angel proved to him that he must own one. The glow seemed to radiate heat to every end of his lanky limbs, but now… now there would be no glow. No light, no banter, no cafes, no dinners or brunches… and there would never be a nightingale that dared sing in his presence. He’d not only lost his best friend, but he lost the love of his entire existence.

Several years after a not-so-nice breakup, former uni sweethearts Aziraphale Fell and Anthony Crowley found themselves working for the same company. For the most part it was nothing bad. “No- I mean yes, that too.” Crowley looked down at his feet and took a deep breath. “That’s not what I meant.” He raised his head again. “I’m leaving London.”
Aziraphale almost dropped the book he was reading. For a few seconds it was like the whole world came crashing down around him, like his life would never be the same again.
“Why?” was all he could manage to press out.
Crowley looked closed off.
“I’ve got a new job, thought it was time to move on.”
