Mike swallowed. "Yeah. I, uh, I run the flower shop across the street. Second Bloom."
Will hummed, sounding warm and pleased with himself. "That tracks," he said.
"What does?"
Will smiled, glancing up at him and making eye contact. "You're very careful. And, you smell like greenery."

It would be a lie to say that Mike hasn’t spent the past hour and a half mentally poring over every book he’s ever read to come up with one worthy of recommendation to a guy as wonderful as Will seems to be. The singular issue being, of course, that he has no idea what Will likes to read. So the words of his reply trip their way out of his mouth, stumbling over one another in their eagerness.
“What, uh, do you like— have you— shit, uh, what’s— what are you looking for?” Mike asks, praying to whatever higher power is listening that Will doesn’t comment on the absolute mess of words that just spilled out of his mouth.
OR
Mike works at Dreamer’s Corner, the bookshop right across the street from Darling Ink. Which is where his new favorite customer, one Will Byers, works. Failed— though eventually successful— homosexuality ensues.
