This fic made me cry as often as it made me chuckle. It deals with all of wwx's Big Feelings in an honest and sincere manner which ends up feeling very cathartic. The plot is good, but the characterisations are even better! The developing friendships, the individual growth, their interactions. It's perfect! Love this fic!

It is, thus, quite understandable that even Wen Ruohan— a man largely known for being arrogant and unflappable— looks surprised at the announcement that the first place in the archery tournament has been won by the Head Disciple of the Tingshan He sect.

Just imagine what life would be like if wei wuxian was raised in a sect that adored him AND so did the leadership. What if he wasn't being restrained and hindered by the pressure of being the best but not showing up the sect heir, where he wasnt being constantly berated, humiliated and punished simply for existing. There are many similar fics but this one has a special place in my heart bc if how sincere the He sect is in their adoration of wei wuxian. They picked up a kid when they didn't have the resources to do so willy-nilly, they raised him without a feeling of debt, and although his genius and prowess catapulted them to fame, they loved him for it before that happened. And the whole thing is told from an outsider's pov! We only see the SIGNIFICANT changes in wei wuxian's demeanour through the eyes of lwj and the others.

Okay so I just finished reading this and have it queued up to read again. There is so much AMAZING world building - especially in wwx's perspective- that you kinda forget that we haven't actually experienced someone waking up from the past. It almost feels like this story is 80% character development and 20% plot, and that is NOT a complaint. It's incredible! It did result in the climax happening very fast, but y'know what! It was cinematic!

Usually non-Jiang wwx is when he's adopted into a different clan early on. But having his actual family still be alive and in the wen sect??? Wow!! But also... it makes sense?? So it turns out I haven't bookmarked this as yet????!?!?!?!? My all time favourite re-read! Has the most epic battles/fight scenes, is fun and funny and the characters are all amazing. If I could say there was one thing wrong with it it is that I can't leave kudos every time I read it bc I would have left A FEW let me tell you omg. If I check my history it says I've clicked into this 546 times 👀😳👀😳👀😳
But tbf that's bc sometimes I'll only pop in to read one chapter and sometime (like today) I'll pick up at chapter 48 and finish the whole thing then come side if I shouldn't restart it bc I missed the wen attack on CR. -

Actually, I love this fic! Wwx is such a great dad and lwj is 100% the indulgent one!
Lwj meets random orphan wwx fleeing with the rest of the kids via extremely haunted forest and it goes from there. There's a very solid plot pertaining to missing children. But most importantly, the child characters are so well written! They interact with each and generally exist in a very real sense while the story is taking place! They are NOT 2D place holders! Each of these kids has a unique and interesting personality and they all contribute to the story in their own way!
Good job author!! Not everyone can write kids like this, and you have excelled at it, 10/10 have read and will read again! -

My favourite post canon. Look I just love this! It's the kind of story I can put down for months and pick back up and immediately become immersed in again.
The kiddos are so cute, Sizhui just wants his dads to be happy, wen ning and wen qing just want a chance to live. There romance and reconciliation in the air.
Will this series ever be continued, who knows, it doesn't matter! We can just imagine all the wonderful secret lives that they are living in peace 🥰

This is such an incredible adventure fic that is a lot more creative and clever that than where the actual series went. Literally NOT killing off all the female characters- of which there are quite a few- and all the children get to be happy and not traumatised! You also get to learn a lot about different religious beliefs and their versions of hell!

This right up there as the number one top remake of Harry Potter! And yes I said remake and not au. Dogfather is an au, this is most definitely a remake and is 1000 times better than the original, fills in all the gaps in logic, handles blatant racism and prejudices really well, and is overall so much more wholesale and not at all filled with dead children/relatives/beloved pets.
