    It hasn’t been an easy day, Henry knows. It hasn’t been an easy week, either. He could argue that really, no day is ever easy for Alex when it comes to eating. There’s always a voice in his head, he’d explained once, that tries to dictate how much he needs and wants and should have – or, more often than not, how much he doesn’t need, how much he shouldn’t have.

    “It never goes away completely,” Alex had once said, murmured confessions on Henry’s shoulder. “But some days are easier. Some days it’s not as loud.”
