Summary
So, I'm trying something a little different with this new installment in the series, and I know it won't be everyone's cup of tea.
As much as I adore M/M, I've always wanted to throw my hat into the very small pool of Female!Shane/Male!Ilya stories. I've also been itching to write the actor!Shane trope for quite some time, so I finally decided to combine the two.
Another reason I wanted to write this fic is that, while I absolutely love exploring Shane's Japanese heritage, I realized I've been neglecting Ilya's Russian heritage throughout this series. I wanted to give that side of him more attention here and explore it in a way I haven't before.

Summary
Shane Hollander is on the Ice when an overhead announcement causes him to spiral. The Centaur's Plane has crashed. Shane needs to hear from Ilya now. There is only one person in the world who can pull him back from the brink and Shane doesn't even know if he's alive.

Excerpt:
Shane snapped around “If what? What the fuck did you say?” His voice was wild now, no attempt to conceal his fear or his breaking heart.
The bewildered other player just said “I just saw the news report, coach had it up on his phone, said someone died in the crash…” he said more but Shane's brain had stopped processing anymore information beyond the fact someone had died.
In fact it wasn't just his brain that had stopped, his limbs went numb, he sucked in a sharp breath and his heart was trying to claw it’s way out of his chest. Ilya might actually be dead; this wasn’t just Shane being Shane this was real. Way to fucking real. He was vaguely aware of the feeling of the cold ice against the side of his head. Shane had dropped down onto the ice. He hadn't passed out, he hadn't tripped, he's body simply gave out from the shock.

Summary
“Hollander.” Shane’s head snaps back to his left. Ilya is much closer, pace slightly hurried. “Come here.” His voice sort of mimics the way one would talk to an animal paralyzed in fight-or-flight. Shane is not sure what to make of that.
He slowly turns his head in the opposite direction, where his vision tunnels on the door for the stairwell. It almost glows like a special item in a video game, like a hint. Without giving himself time to doubt, he bolts.
“Wha- Hollander, what the fuck!” Ilya shouts in audible disbelief, and Shane distinctly hears matching thuds of frantic footsteps behind him; Ilya is chasing after him. Shane runs faster, positively sprinting at this point. He’s the fastest skater in the NHL right now. He can do this. He flings the door open and bounds down the steps two at a time, hitting the walls with each turn of a corner. If he eats shit on this filthy floor and embarrasses himself in front of Ilya, he thinks, he’ll never let himself see the light of day ever again.
or alternatively, in which Shane accidentally sends the text, and Ilya chases after him. Like, actually chases after him.
