What's defines a person?
The usual response you'll hear is connection through humanity; it's the ability to emphasise. To value anothers life beyond your own. Yet this lacks for those who cannot. So, what else? Perhaps simple common sense is all it takes, though in that case all humans are rabbits and rabbits are humans. Does that sound right? Their hopes and dreams – is it the privellge to well away in a land of nothingness? Every animal dreams. What about fears? Intuition dredged within yourself, wondering why you are ignoring it. An immense fear may prove your alive, but it cannot prove your humanity. Maybe it's the dread, subtle proudness, felt after twisting the truth to your will. The ability to fabricate your own life. Or the grinding urge begging you to end it.
Well, whatever it is, it's gone. And Thomas cannot cope.
