Summary

Summary
Barrett is the captain of a military unit called Salvation. He works tirelessly to prepare his men for the battles they fight in the war against vampires. As a gift, the King gives him control of a military vampire slave named Valter. Barrett has no idea what to do with a slave, never mind a vampire, so he does his best, confusing the hell out of Valter.
All Valter has ever known is pain, hunger, and fear. He is shocked to be saved from execution by a short, overly friendly captain. The questions the human asks make no sense and his requests make even less sense. Valter honestly doesn't know what to do except to bask in the kindness he knows he doesn't deserve and wait for the inevitable return to pain.
