Wally sighed and pulled the sleeve of his jacket farther over his throbbing wrist as he trudged to the zeta tube. With his advanced healing the bruises would be gone in a matter of hours, but that didn't make them hurt any less.
His phone buzzed for what seemed like the hundredth time, but he made no move to answer it. It was probably Robin wondering where he was and why he was late for training. Wally knew his best friend would be upset with him for not answering his phone, but he hadn't come up with a good enough excuse for his tardiness yet. And it wasn't like he could tell the truth.
Sorry I’m running late, Rob. I overslept and forgot to do the dishes this morning so my dad wouldn't let me leave the house until after he spent half an hour yelling at me and beating me up. Be there soon though!
Wally snorted. If only it were that easy.
