Summary
Shadow and Big have started to spend a lot more time together after everything that happened in White Space.
They work surprisingly well in the ways that they balance each other out.
And Shadow has a tough exterior, but it’s nothing that Big really falls for.
Especially after Shadow panics and cries in front of him for the first time, and Big is easily there to comfort him. The feline even tells him facts about fish to ground him when he dissociates.
It’s a shift in the way that Shadow is usually cared for.
And, as the two Mobians grow closer, the way they feel for each other seems to shift, too.
However, the Ultimate Lifeform does not “cry”. Or, so the hedgehog claims.
No one ever sees him cry. Not even Rouge.
Unfortunately, his “tough exterior” shatters during a get together with friends, after one too many restless nights and a bunch of small mishaps over the course of the day.
He completely breaks down into tears. And no one really knows what to do.
No one ever sees Shadow cry.
Fortunately, Big knows how to help.

Summary
A shallow breeze passes by, at some point, and Sonic thinks he can smell a hint of lavender in the air, causing him to raise an eye ridge. He looks around.
How odd.
He hears some noise from below, in the water. This is to be expected, of course. Water moves. But, for a second, he thinks he sees something.
Carefully, he steps closer to the railing, peeking over the side.
Something splashes above water, briefly.
A fin? A tentacle?
He takes a few more steps forward; rests a paw against the rail.
Curiously, he leans forward more and more.
He sees… red eyes?
Are those eyes?
And then, suddenly…
…he’s leaned too far forward.

Summary
Shadow and Sonic’s planned, biweekly spars are nothing new.
Shadow having panic attacks and flashbacks to the ARK is nothing new.
Shadow’s newfound feelings for Sonic? That’s… somewhat new. But nothing he can’t handle (he supposes).
All of these things being confronted at the same time that he’s trying to bottle them up, however?

Summary
“Why do they keep thinking up stories to link my name with yours?” is the darker hedgehog’s abrupt question as him and his furtive partner walk, hand in hand through the forest adjacent to Hedgehog Village.
The darkness of the late evening does a nice job of concealing how close they are to each other, how the blue hedgehog lazily leans his head against his counterpart’s shoulder as they stroll.
Sonic’s emerald eyes remain as bright as they always are, despite the unlit sky, as he turns to look at his partner in confusion.
“Who?” he asks.
“Our friends,” Shadow huffs, in dismay. He waves one arm, gesturing outwardly. “The whole village. Why does it seem like the neighbors are gossiping all day behind their doors?”
Sonic only gives a contemplative hum in response. Then, with a tiny click of his tongue, he turns back to the darker hedgehog with a coy smirk, clearly getting an idea.
“I think I might know a way to prove that what they say isn’t true…” the cobalt hedgehog offers, leisurely. “Here’s the gist: a practical list of do’s and dont’s for you.”
Sonic pokes, sportively, at his partner’s cheek, and Shadow raises an eye ridge, suspiciously, but opts to listen, curious.
