    Connor propped himself up with his right arm, patted onto the sofa in front of him with the other while not breaking eye contact. "Just get that sexy body of yours in here. I need to stay horizontal tonight." The second the words left his mouth, he knew he would get a saucy reaction. Hudson's eyes widened for a quick second and the expression crossing his face told him that he wouldn't pass on the opportunity.

    His tongue darted out, wetting his upper lip. "If you want to be horizontal there are other things that we could do." It was always similar jokes that would have been so inappropriate if it was with any other person than him, but they knew each other too well already. Clearly, the joke was just that, no deep meaning, just the still developing frontal cortex of a 24 year old dirty minded actor. It made something inside him flip anyway.

Because his chest had been cut open, and inside it beat his heart, drenched in blood and laid bare for all to see. If he started to reply, he would write something foolish, something too candid or too tender or too bitter - most likely, all of those things at once. And then Hollander would have to deal with a human wreck and an avalanche of his - Ilya’s, not Rozanov’s - feelings. And Hollander would be kind and understanding, would pity him, and it would be unbearable.

    Scott knew the boys’ moods well enough by now to know that giving them the chance to gravitate back towards each other would be counter-productive to everything that they wanted to achieve tonight - namely, getting their minds off things. If left to their own devices, Scott knew that Shane would get lost in Ilya’s present stormcloud, and Ilya, in turn, would try to stoically shoulder the burden for both of them until he collapsed. They needed to be separated and get some much needed attention doted upon them individually, to truly settle down.
