Tilting his head, Lark narrows his eyes. Whether he is squinting against the setting sun or glaring at Grant for finding him is equally likely. A shiver runs down his spine that has nothing to do with the chill of the evening. The very thought that crosses his mind of Lark using his bruised knuckles to his advantage, to push Grant to the forest floor, to punch him in the jaw—to make Grant bleed—to make him feel—

Summary
Even in their childhood, Lark had been a whirlwind of intensity. In both timelines Nick remembers the way he would stare down children, teachers, monsters, with an expression that made them uneasy. With Sparrow by his side that was doubly the case. An effect of the same boy twice, though his twin had the blunt edge that was the cutting, sharp knife of his brother.

The only part of him that’s wet is his legs as he gently kicks back and forth, splashing water in a way that makes him feel childish. He opened the door to their shared apartment expecting to be greeted by his shorter, more energetic younger brother but was greeted with absolute silence; this wasn't anything new but it was strange considering Christmas was usually Luffy's favorite holiday.

“Shishishi! Sabo, you're so impatient. It's a Christmas gift!” Luffy answers back, finally revealing his cards although it takes a moment for his older brother to get it.
‘A Christmas gift?... Something that's a meal? …And in our room?...’ It doesn't take too long for the pieces to fall into place, finally understanding what Luffy is referring to.

His prayers are finally answered when he hears the door begin to open and he's greeted with a sight that knocks all the air from his lungs.
