    Summary

A fiery plane crash claims Ilya Rozanov’s life in January. By April, Shane Hollander is dead of a broken heart. The truth dies with them.

Yuna Hollander will do anything to get her son back, including hiring a shady shaman to resurrect him. There’s just one complication — Shane isn’t coming back alone.

Now there are codependent zombies in her house wearing Ilya and Shane’s faces. When they inexplicably act more like a married couple than the bitter rivals she expected, Yuna is convinced that they came back wrong.

It’s easier than admitting she never understood them from the start.

    Bookmarker's Notes

    (1) oh this is interesting as fuck, I love hollanov as codependent soulmates so much and this having them die not long after the other and then coming back potentially wrong (though by whose definition will be even more intriguing) sounds like delicious agony (also that little Irina hand holding moment was a nice touch)
    (2) oh I love the term hollanovombies so much, fuck this is exactly what I was hoping for, for these two idiotic soulmates to come back wrong in the sense of no longer giving a damn about boundaries/restrictions/shame/backlash when it comes to loving each other and I’m so here for it even as Yuna is in panicked denial about it with David confused but accepting of the BOGO son revival special his wife managed, also Ilya sobbing over Shane possibly committing suicide with the overtone of Irina haunting was just rude: Chapter 2

A million memories,” Shane chokes out. The phrase clearly means something to both of them, because Rozanov’s eyes immediately water. “Safe in your heart, I – I believe it. You believed it. But you were wrong, without you my — my heart — fuck. Fuck. How could you say that?”

Rozanov gingerly touches the hunk of gold around his neck. It’s misshapen and melted, but it looks like it might have been a crucifix. Was Rozanov religious? “Sveta must have sent it to you. She knew I would have wanted you to keep it. Safe against your heart. I am sorry it caused you pain instead.” Shane shakes his head. “It doesn’t hurt anymore. It sent me to you.”

Rozanov frantically scans Shane’s body for injury before returning to meet Yuna’s gaze. Mouth slowly parting in realization, he points to himself. “Ah! I am complication.”

Rozanov looks pointedly at the man pinning him to his chair. “Well. Now I understand pet owners who cannot move after their pets fall asleep on them. I think if I went to fridge right now you would bite me, котенок

“Good. From now on you’re only dying if I get a say in it.”
“So bossy,” Rozanov drawls. Oddly, it doesn’t sound like an insult

Yuna flinches at that word. Shane isn’t some Halloween monster. His heart just stopped a little longer than most and needed a spell instead of an electric shock to get it back on track

This thing with Rozanov has to be new. A side effect that will fade with time. The alternative is that Shane never trusted them enough to open his heart all the way, and Yuna can’t bear that truth.

    Summary

Shane always knew he would go there before his wedding. He just knew it. It didn’t matter if Shane’s alpha turned out nice or not — Shane’s first would always be this one.

He watched this beautiful face he spent years loving only with his eyes and respectful touches and now — because he can — Shane licked into his mouth and moved his hips first, encouraging Ilya.

    Their kiss tasted like salt.

    Summary

There was something wrong with Shane Hollander.

He had known it since he was young.

Most people-most kids, in general-had different hobbies and interests. Their attention drifted from one thing to another. They became fascinated with something for a few weeks, only to abandon it for the next shiny obsession that caught their eye.

Shane had never been like that.

When it came to him, there was only ever one thing: hockey.

    Obsessive.

That was the word most people used when referring to his temperament.

    Bookmarker's Notes

Am i just gonna adore every hollanov fic this author makes by this point, damn, like how’d they create the perfectly obsessed, devoted, codependent, unrelenting soulmates within every universe love that is my kryptonite, this was fantastic and I’m in love with this author’s brain

He looks at you like the rest of the world does not exist."

    Ilya's smile somehow widened.

    "I know. Isn’t it great?"

Svetlana rubbed a hand over her face.

    This conversation was going terribly.

    "I am serious."

"So am I," he lowered the heat beneath the pan before glancing back at her. "Sveta, I know Shane is obsessive." The amusement faded slightly from his expression. "I know he worries too much and overthinks everything. I know he would probably move mountains if I asked."

    Probably?

Svetlana had absolutely no doubt he would.

    "I know all of that."

    "And?"

    "And I like it."

For a moment neither of them spoke, then Ilya shrugged.

    "My entire life people left."

The words landed heavily between them, and Svetlana immediately regretted pushing.

"My father was abusive, Alexei was not any better, and my mother died when I was twelve. Coaches would call me lazy, teammates got traded, and friends moved away." He looked down at the food for a second before continuing. "Then Shane showed up."

    His smile returned.

    Smaller this time.

    Softer.

    "Shane never leaves."

Svetlana's heart ached, because suddenly she understood. To her, Shane's devotion was overwhelming. But to Ilya?

    It felt safe and permanent.

    Like solid ground.

"I never have to wonder if he loves me," Ilya continued. "I never have to guess, or worry about where I stand."

That part, more than anything else, explained everything. Svetlana had seen relationships built on uncertainty, or mixed signals. On people pretending not to care.

    Shane did none of that.

Nobody who looked at Shane Hollander for more than five seconds could possibly doubt how he felt about Ilya Rozanov.

    The man practically broadcasted it.

"Besides," Ilya added with a grin, "I am pretty sure I am obsessed with him too."

    Svetlana laughed despite herself.

    That was unfortunately true.

The two of them were ridiculous.

    Completely ridiculous.

    But somehow it worked.

Looking at Ilya now, standing barefoot in her kitchen while making breakfast and smiling like the happiest man in the world, she found it difficult to argue with the results.

Shane was strange, a little frightening at times, and certainly obsessive.

Yet he loved Ilya fiercely. He loved Sofia just as much. And for all his quirks, he had spent the last few years giving Ilya something Svetlana had wanted for him since they were children.

    A home.

Someone dependable, who stayed, and loved him enough that he never had to question it.

"Oh well," Svetlana muttered into her coffee.

    "What?"

    She shook her head.

    "Nothing."

If Ilya was happy, then she was happy.

And despite being a bit weird, Shane Hollander had taken remarkably good care of her family.

At the end of the day, that was what mattered

    Summary

“We could’ve had everything,” Shane admitted softly.

The confession hurt more than he expected.

“A real relationship. A family. A future.” His eyes drifted toward the planes outside again before he exhaled slowly. “But dreams eventually end.” A small, tired smile pulled at his mouth. “And this is me waking up.”

    Bookmarker's Notes

I fucking adored this, I am the biggest fan of Shane crashing out especially when it is done like this, Shane being able to get away from the insane pressure of hockey and discover his Japanese heritage through fatherhood and finding who he is when outside of being a hockey captain through finding joy and connection through food, falling back into being a regular anonymous person surrounded by people who look like him and don’t expect him to be anything else but what he shows up as, diving into new hobbies, sponsorship (kenzo is such a fucking brilliant choice), and routines that better fit his natural preferences and of course the therapy and introspection threaded through it all, with baby Yuri being inquisitive and adorable and precocious in all the best ways healing and being healed with Shane and Ilya, also Ilya broke my heart and then fixed it not long after, him breaking apart and slowly starting to make his way out his darkness, finally cutting off his family, flying across the world to try something real and honest and deeply loving with Shane, gaining a true found family that loves him and wants the best for him and to delightfully end it with social media snippets that show the internet losing its mind over Hollanov on the same team with their adopted daughter was the cherry on top

    Summary

The first thing Ilya Rozanov felt was a headache the size of Massachusetts.

Seriously, his head was pounding so badly behind his eyes that the moment he tried to sit up in bed, a violent wave of nausea nearly made him throw up. He immediately dropped his head into his hands, elbows braced against his knees while he forced himself to breathe slowly through it.

    Jesus Christ.

What the hell did he drink last night?

    Bookmarker's Notes

    (21) fucking hell this is delightful, there’s just so much to enjoy, Shane and Rose’s platonic soulmate supremacy as they dominate the figure skating world while being Harvard students and part-time models, Ilya and Shane in the most beautiful, trust filled, deeply adoring and devoted relationship where they honestly communicate with one another from the beginning is everything to me, also the social media interludes of hockey and figure skating fans co-existing happily as both groups fall in love with each sport and deeply appreciate the techniques and mastery needed for both while also dying over the over-achieving chaotic trio of menaces, I just love this so much and I’m so glad that this started from Shane finding Ilya in a dark place and helped give him the resources and push to break him free from his abusive shitty family and start living happily rather than just surviving: Chapter 21
