Summary
Written for the Stucky After Dark September prompt, "Pining."
The Asset doesn't understand why it suddenly jumped into the foul waters of the Potomac and pulled its target out. It doesn't understand why it so desperately wants the man in the absurd suit to live. It isn't a person to want things, after all. And the name Stevie, combined with worry about breathing, makes its head hurt.
It doesn't understand. But it knows being around Stevie isn't safe for the man in the suit. So it sets off to figure out what exactly it is. Over the course of the year, it remembers. And Stevie follows.
Featuring the Avengers as an actually functional team, Tony Stark as the good guy we all know he actually is, and two guys pining after each other even as one of them tries to figure out what pining even is. Oh - and occasional gratuitous violence, explosions, allusions to past torture, and much self-loathing.

Summary

Steve Rogers isn't exactly grateful, and he lashes out.

Summary
Sam's first semester at Stanford has come to a close. He doesn't have anywhere to go, but that's okay. He's scored an incredibly prestigious internship working with the state prosecutor's office on a series of copycat killings modeled on a mass murder that took place almost thirty years ago, and he couldn't be happier.
John has caught a rumor of a knife that can kill anything. Thinking that it might be just the thing to help him in his quest to get revenge for Mary, he tears off to Missouri, leaving Dean at Pastor Jim's. He has a temporary hunting partner in the mysterious T, a local hunter with area knowledge and nerves of solid steel.
Pastor Jim would prefer that Dean rest and recuperate from his last hunt in Blue Earth, but he soon realizes that Dean needs action. He finds Dean a hunt in distant California: an abandoned house experiencing a wide variety of bizarre phenomena that don't fit any pattern the Winchesters have ever seen before. Unraveling it will take every bit of Dean's brain power, distracting him from his loneliness.
Naturally, nothing goes according to plan.

Bucky woke up with a headache, a mouth that tasted like something had died in it, and hands-down, swear-to-god, the most beautiful man he had ever seen asleep in his lap.
Bucky was also, he realized after a moment, strapped down to a hospital bed with about six different monitors making unsynced, equally piercing, beeps. Beyond that he couldn’t quite see—there was a hideous floral curtain pulled around the bed, and while he could just make out figures moving in the room beyond it, the pattern made his head pound even worse the longer he looked at it.
So. That was concerning.

Sam stopped next to the dining car and gave Steve a long, considering look. “I was gonna ask if we should get coffee, but yeah, let’s talk about this.”
Steve ducked his head to avoid eye contact. “Bucky’s the one who fell off, and he picked the train. Go intuit feelings about him,” he muttered, pretending to search for their tickets.
