At the end of the day, Mine gets a call from sober Daigo.

Summary
It was a pleasure to burn. Montag told himself, convinced really, whether it was the natural all consuming flame that warmed his fingertips and flushed his cheeks, or the burn that was scorching to the touch. It didn't matter to him either way, all he wanted was to feel that warmth again, that heat Beatty left him with that kept him wanting. That heat to burn away the cold dread in his belly each time his Captain would look at him, to warm that cold stare directed his way.

“I’d fire you for how highly inappropriate this is in the workplace, Montag, and tell Millie of this horrific turn of events, but I won’t. You’re lucky I’m a weak man.”
The words would’ve stung with the bitter bite of rejection, if it wasn’t for the smug grin on Beatty’s face hinting at something more than reproach, expression fixed as if he was just about to wink. It was, decidedly, very nice to look at. Clarisse was certainly wise beyond her years.
Then the expression proved truer than the words that came with it, because Beatty grasped his collar and met his lips, tongue gently prodding his mouth open. His hands traced and kneaded and worshipped, like he had always wanted to map out every last inch of him and memorise every curve and edge. The rest happened in the private office, then in the staff bathroom, then once out in the open on a late night shift, and, eventually, they were finally able to arrange secret little work meetings at Beatty’s house.
Or, Montag confesses something unconventional in more ways than one.

“There aren’t any rules on the island, you know,” he said, shifting so that his chin rested against the back of his hand - he composed himself with a frigidity almost akin to that of his eyes, but there was a blooming flame that flickered deep within him, somewhere that, for some odd reason, only Ralph seemed able to notice. Maybe it was his new affinity for deep, spiraling philosophical thoughts that made it stand out to him, or perhaps he had that same flame blistering beneath his skin.
In which Jack and Ralph begin to disengage with the rules of society, but for better before worse (hint: they kiss).

Jack looks at him, a sort of incredulous stare. He says nothing from his end of the platform, but his gaze is enough to unnerve Ralph. Ralph coughs awkwardly before attempting to continue.
