“Taash,” he says lowly, raising his haunted eyes to meet theirs. They have never been very good at concealing their emotions and from their grief he knows the answer to the question he asks anyway. “Where is Rook?”

Summary
His shoulders and ribs are marked by lines of angry red. There are purple bruises where his binder has chaffed over the course of days, and when he shifts he feels more on his back. Allen debates leaving his small injuries alone. He won’t be able to treat the ones on his back, but if he doesn’t at least try to take care of himself then it’ll be longer until he can put his binder back on and he loathes that more than anything else.
He covers his chest with his arms and swallows hard. “Kanda?”
Kanda hums inquisitively from somewhere behind him and Allen musters up the courage to ask, “Can you…” He fights to keep his voice above a whisper. It should not be so difficult to ask for something. “Could you help me?”
OR: When Allen and Kanda keep having the unfortunate luck of acquiring a single room with only one bed for multiple nights in a row after a mission, Allen makes the age-old mistake of sleeping in his binder. And then he does it again. And again. Predictably, Kanda notices something is definitely off.

Summary
Allen's been acting strangely ever since the Rewinding Town incident. He hides it well, but there's something wrong with him, and even though Kanda doesn't think of much outside of fighting, this is getting ridiculous.
It needs to stop, and if no one else is going to do something, then Kanda will have to fix it himself.

Allen knows he’s luckier than most even though he never feels like he is. Being an exorcist is a dangerous and unforgiving profession that most are forced into against their will.
He was neither forced nor persuaded into the role. Allen knew he was going to be an exorcist the moment Cross offered it to him. So he, by all means, should be ready to face the consequences.
The near-death experiences, the injuries, the chronic pain… he was supposed to be ready for it, but he isn't. Allen’s back hurts.
OR:
Allen thinks he's doing a good job at hiding the fact that he's in pain while on a mission with Kanda. It turns out that he's really... not.

Those strong hands, that salacious smile, those piercing eyes. They were all his.
Well, they were mostly his. Clive had learned quickly that Cid was free with his affection with most everyone in the Hideaway, it was just in his nature. Always a hand on someone’s shoulder, a pat on the back, a fistbump against someone’s arm or chest. He was gregarious with physical affection, it was how he showed he cared.
It was how he used to show he cared to Clive too.

In the flickering of the firelight, Noctis could make out the Ring the attackers were demanding. He could hear some of the brave people in the crowd working to save them, to give the Crownsguard time to get to them to protect them. He knew Gladiolus would be there soon, if he just stayed safe.
But they wanted his father, and they wanted the Ring. Their family legacy, and he wouldn’t fail them when he was strong enough to keep moving and save everyone.
“I’m sorry Dad,” Noctis whispered as he took the shaking, bloody hand in front of him. He wasn’t sure who was shaking more as he took hold of the large, black ring on Regis’s hand and slid it off in one quick motion.

“Someone get Tommy! Get Maria!”
Ellie perks up, wondering why they’re being yelled for so frantically. Though Jackson is run by the Council, Maria and Tommy are the ones people often go to first when something goes wrong. There’s a wide variety of reasons that they could be being yelled for – god, once the two of them were forced to come running because a cat got stuck in a tree – but something about this time unsettles her.
She walks away from Shimmer, who whinnys when the rest of the carrots she’d been gobbling up end up back in Ellie’s pocket, but Ellie leaves with a pat and a distracted “be back soon.” Being in the stables with Shimmer is one of the only places she feels truly at peace. Her mind conjures thoughts of another place, but that house, that person, have been off the table for years.
Another round of shouting for the two occurs, and Ellie jogs over to the main street to see what’s going on.
There’s a flurry of activity at the clinic, and Ellie’s heart drops to her stomach. Someone got hurt, she thinks. But who, and why were people shouting for Tommy and Maria? They aren’t doctors, and usually only family get yelled for when someone is injured.
Oh god, Ellie thinks. No.
