    Summary

Tim tried to believe, if only for a little while. In kindergarten, his class had written letters to the big man...Tim's was only one sentence long.

"I want mommy and daddy home for Christmas."

They'd been in Egypt through New Year's.

He wrote again in first grade.

"Please let mom and dad be home for Christmas."

    And in second.

"Please, if you are real at all, can you bring my parents home for Christmas?"

He hadn't really truly believed in the mythological man, but boy had he wanted to. Boy had he tried.

    OR

When at a Wayne Enterprises Christmas Gala, Tim meets "Santa". Reluctantly, Tim asks him for what he's always wanted for the holidays - to be with his family. He just might get his wish, even if it's not exactly in the way he would have ever imagined.

    Summary

Steve has never won a fight. He’s had his ass kicked left, right, and center. Hell, Johnathan has kicked his ass. Steve can bat a monster, but when it comes to people? Steve Harrington has never really won a fight.

But that’s because he’s getting put in the wrong kinds of fights. They think he’s a hammer, when really, anyone who grew up BFFs with Carol becomes a scalpel.

(Dustin gapes like a fish. “Holy shit, dude…” Steve would chide language if he thought it would do anything. “You just performed real life Vicious Mockery. I think that guy took psychic damage!”)

Or: someone thinks he’s tough shit and is messing with Steve’s kids. Cue the Boss Battle Music. Mama Steve rips the guy to shreds, as he should.

    "Y...you can't..." Edelgard pawed weakly at his chest. "I have...to much...left undone..."

"So did I. It wasn't enough to stop you." He gently brushed her hair away from her eyes. "I'm sorry it had to be this way. But I can't hand my people over to Agartha. I can't sacrifice my people to your war. The duty of a king is to protect his people, after all."

Edelgard underestimated Claude, even after he told her that he was a schemer.

    Summary

You figure the kid’ll be long gone, but he’s only a few feet away, collapsed against a wall. He’s curled up, pale eyes so wide behind his fringe of dirty blond hair they almost look blank. His face flushes crimson, but the rest of his skin is ice-white and bloodless, sheened with feverish sweat. His cheeks are pitted, hollow.

“Saints preserve us,” you mutter, rubbing your aching head.

Alone and ill on the streets of Fhirdiad, Dimitri finds help from an unexpected quarter. Five years later, he returns to repay the favor.

    Summary

Ethereal shapes ranging from semi-opaque and decidedly humanoid figures to the vaguest impressions of a person drifted through the hallways. Most of them clustered around the few living souls present, with Oswald garnering the most attention. A few of them, untethered to anyone in particular, were found in the most random of places, going through the motions of a once-familiar routine. There was one in the kitchen, chopping up phantasmal vegetables. There was one in the stables, tending to horses that couldn’t see their invisible caretaker. There was one by the gates, manning a post now occupied by a fresh recruit.

And none of them spared Claude a glance while he observed them. Which was fair, since ghosts usually don’t expect anyone to see them.

However, Claude was the rare exception. He could see ghosts. Or fravashi, as he liked to call them. He had to get used to calling them ghosts, since he wasn’t in Almyra anymore.

Claude meets the ghost of his uncle, Godfrey von Riegan, and ends up forming quite the partnership.
