“This is just what I need,” II said, taking in a deep breath. Trying to let go. Like those anger management sessions taught him when he had fuck all else to do inside. “Thank you for packing my stuff for me. Now I just want my cat.”
Right on time, Smoke meowed from the carrier, and II brushed past III, bending down to see the tiny black cat on the pavement, her green eyes blinking up at him. He felt bad taking her away from her home of the past four years, but she’d been his cat before they’d moved in with IV. He figured he could be selfish in this, considering the circumstances.
“Two,” IV started softly, clearing his throat, awkwardly leaning against the fence. His soft voice, the one II fell in love with before he’d fucked it all up. “I don’t want you to think you can’t live here.”
“I can’t live here,” II said. “No room in the bed now, is there?”
After a break up, a stint in prison, and a betrayal from his closest friend, II buys a dilapidated house on the English coast. After a series of storms, his spiralling isolation is quickly thwarted by the arrival of the strangest creature he's ever met.

Summary
It's easy at first because you both love music, and videogames, and spending too much time inside of your own imaginations, which are unsurprisingly very compatible. It keeps being easy because II makes you laugh so hard it feels like fireworks, because when you pick his brain he almost always has a thoughtful answer, because he listens to you with sincerity and interest, because he is as patient as he is stubborn. Because his buoyant soul lightens the ironclad weight of your own.
____________Or: a flowery study of Vessel's fraught relationship with himself across the years, and the ways it impacts his connection to II - and a study of II's steadfast devotion, by proxy.

“And you’re still dating Vessel. We’re both in the wrong here aren’t we, love?”
Or-
Vessel and IV are very worried II and III hate each other and will never get along.
And while that is partly true, it’s not the whole truth.

Summary
Vessel is in a loving relationship with II, III and IV, but it was not always like this. His previous relationship was a toxic one, one where he was frequently mind controlled without consent. He is now safe and happy with his boyfriends, but some commands still persist…and can be triggered at unsuspecting times.
