Summary
This is the home for all my fics that take place in the same Fix-It/Canon-Divergence universe that is established in Identity Beyond the Grave. That fic is strictly Charles Smith POV so in this series you'll find POV from other characters, and scenes that didn't quite fit the tone of the main chapters they were plucked from.
Generally, these can be read standalone because they take place in the "canon" universe of the game and should therefore be easy to jump into, but they're written to all take place with the same versions of the characters.

Mouth parting so slightly, Charles’s brow crumples in sweet confusion. “What for?”
“So I know—” Thrill zinging down his spine to feel Charles’s humid breath across his lips, Arthur doesn’t so much kiss him as touch their mouths together. “—how to treat you.”

Summary
Inside Matthews & Sons, Charles had to take a moment to orient himself. To the right, shelves of tools and the curled forms of tractor and lawnmower belts. To the left, household cleaning supplies and small necessities like pencils, thumbtacks, and cup hooks. Just next to the store’s center aisle was the register. It was situated atop a massive U-shaped counter with a glass display case full of dusty old pocket knives and knickknacks. Bird houses and weather vanes were hanging from the ceiling beams behind the counter. Some of them appeared to be handmade. The shelf nearest the register was filled with canned goods that had near-identical printed brown labels from some place called ‘Susan’s Kitchen’. A soft thumping noise drew Charles’ gaze back down, to where a dark gray dog with black spotting was lying on a buffalo-plaid printed bed. He had his brown eyes trained on Charles and his tail was smacking a steady rhythm against the floor.
Modern/90s AU: The Matthews-Van der Linde family own and operate the feed store in Valentine, Montana. Title from Bruce Springsteen's "Promised Land".

They'd never tried to find each other, never communicated since the string between them appeared. That was, until one lonely, fateful night, Charles decided to tug on their shared string. On the other side, still healing from Mary and Eliza and his son, Arthur is reminded of a soulmate he'd long since forgotten.
It's all up from there.

Summary
The heavy bass is making the oil-puddles shiver. Arthur leans against the wall, watching with a lazy eye as the puddles of filthy, iridescent water dance. Lines of neon jittering across their surface, pounding in time with the music, some garbage iridium synth track with too many drops that makes the whole alley vibrate, reverberating in his cyberware.
It sure as shit ain't good music, but the club is eating it up. Arthur supposes he should just be glad that he's not inside. He leans back, fitting his cigarette to his lips. A slow drag in, and then out.
Arthur holds his cigarette out - offering.
Eyes flick his way, glowing gold in the dark. His companion tilts his head, a silent refusal.

“Herr Strauss,” Arthur greets, teeth gritted, plastering a fake smile onto his face. “How goes your money lendin’ business?”
“Ah, Herr Morgan.” Strauss turns on the rock, beady eyes swivelling around to peer up at him behind his spectacles. “It’s going swimmingly. As I like to say, Herr Morgan, there exists not a debtor who is unable to pay, only a debtor who is unwilling to pay. A little prod is all that is needed!”
Arthur sighs. “Okay,” he says, ready to confront the inevitable. “Well, do you need me to… prod anyone for you?”
“Ah! Not right now, Herr Morgan, not right now,” Strauss says. Arthur looks at him, confused. “As I said, swimmingly! I gave Herr Smith a list of debtors a few days back and he’s managed to get the money from all of them. Efficient work, that man does, though that leaves none for you, I’m afraid.”

Fantastic series, would absolutely recommend a full read-through. That being said, Bottom!Charles is my kryptonite and this fic is the infamous Lex Luthor/Clone!Superman red kryptonite scene. It's pinned me down, beat the shit out of me, and told me to call it daddy. The emotional vulnerability, the humor, the back and forth, the LOVE. Just. Fuck me, what a good read.
