And then there’s the other kind of shops.
The shops where the techs joust on the cherry pickers with makeshift lances and 1 ¼ wrenches. Where they play games of “who can fling the most screws into Wash’s sweatshirt hood from the top of the hydraulic lift before he notices and makes you get back to work”. Where they slack off for days on the simplest of jobs, and can’t talk to customers without either hitting on them or fumbling so badly over words that they sound like idiots. Where an intense rivalry between two such shops makes the corner of Blood Gulch Avenue a living hell for anyone who doesn’t work at Red’s Autobody or Captain Blu’s Auto Repair.

Summary
How does that old saying go? Home is where the heart is?
Wash never had a home. He never had a place to grow up or people to get attached to. Maybe he did, once, but it doesn't matter anymore. He escaped from a cell in an underground fighting ring that put kid against kid in a fucked up fight to survive, and landed right into another.
The Blood Gulch Juvenile Detention Centre for Boys.
This time, though, there's Tucker. There's Caboose and Grif and the rest of the group and as much as they all say they hate it, at least they have each other. And now there's Wash, who's as paranoid as Grif is sarcastic and defensive as Caboose is strange. There's problems and insecurities and really bad jokes, and underneath it all, the chance for Wash to find a home.
Because home is where the heart is, right?

Summary
David Washington has never been good at letting sleeping dogs lie. So when his roommate, Epsilon, has a mental breakdown and shoots himself, he's determined to uncover the truth, even if Epsilon's father promptly has him kicked out of the fancy boarding school The Mother of Invention to Blood Gulch Remedial School. Naturally, the process is only sped up when Epsilon shows up as a ghost and Wash learns that all of his friends at the Mother of Invention are still in danger.
Meanwhile, Lavernius Tucker is known to be great at letting sleeping dogs lie. With a baby he didn't want who he's now fighting for custody of, a best friend who's on the run from his abusive father, and parents who have disowned him entirely, he really has enough on this plate. He doesn't need a roommate with nightmares and a ghostly companion who might enlist his help in saving lots of lives at any given time. Then again, when has it ever mattered what he wants?
