"Some company...?" Red mutters, flying through the potential list. Maybe some bigwigs from Kazimierz, or Rhine Lab, or perhaps... "Victoria?"
"Nope. Not even the nobles want this mess, and especially not after the queen showed up."
"Not a queen." Red corrects.
"Not a queen. You know your Victorian politics better than me." The Reunion soldier concedes, slipping on a pair of white gloves and an apron as they walked. "But apparently one of the company's staff won a gameshow and foiled a coup, and ever since then, they've been on good terms."
"Weird story."
"Yep, but the company's weird. We're dealing with a place called Rhodes Island today...!"

"Mizuki still remembers, he thinks, a time where he went to sleep, too. He knows this conceptually. Once upon a time, before... everything, he lay himself down and closed his eyes like she was doing now. And during his first days as the hybrid he was now, he had tried it again. It wasn't exactly the same, that regular procession of eight hours of sleep and sixteen hours of waking, but more of a hibernation, where he'd fall into dormancy up until an external force or hunger told him to move. It's a bit different to how humans do it, but his roomate usually shakes him awake to bring him out of dormancy, so they make it work."

Then, as quickly as it came, the shadow left, Susie grinning brightly as she pointed at the baseball bats. "That's what these are for. No better smashing tool than a baseball bat."

Long ago, she'd sip sweet juice underneath shade from sunlight, the blanket creased and ruffled amongst it's many colorful squares. The root she used to sit underneath is still there, buried underneath the cold it was, the drifting white snow that piled on her shoulders and her wool-knit cap. She still remembers as she brushes the snow off and touches the wood, and a feeling opposite from warmth spreads through her heart."

Pulling it back down, she continues the thought. "Out of everyone in the world, I would find the only other person similar to me. Doesn't that sound like a fairy tale?"
He shines down, the light filtering through him. He is amused, he is joyful, he is serene. He looks on her, a playful tint in his gaze, and lets out a smile that taunted her with it's nonchalance.
"Anything I can do to convince you...?"

Well, be that as it may, the fact remained that Pohl wasn't much of a hunter. The most lost thing he had ever hunted was a grandma's lost cat, and he only had to beat off five hounds with a stick to get it back. And it wasn't like that at all this time- He couldn't just put Nymph on his shoulder and make a mad dash for a nearby rock once he inevitably got into trouble!

The "kids" in question were both sitting in the backseat, minding their own business. Mizuki was too engrossed in some sort of terminal to properly respond, while Highmore had fully opened the window to feel the sea breeze rush past her. Hearing Deepcolor's remark, she turns away from the blowing wind and pouts a little. "I'm far from a child. And he-", which Highmore punctuates with a thumb at Mizuki, "already had a job."
