A storm-heavy wind crosses, but the movement through underbrush is something else entirely and he doesn't need to wonder if the traps here have caught game. As he pushes aside the leaves, he reminds himself that he's always let those who've suffered for his survival rest comfortably before their deaths—has always asked for understanding from what he’s killed.
There’s a limp, hung thing snared by the throat through the first wire trap he checks—white fur matted from the struggle that broke its own neck, blood-red eyes glassy and staring into the distance.
Tsukasa tries, more than anything, not to think about the fact that he’s never done the same for Senku—asked—not because he’s afraid of the question, but because he knows the answer already and doesn’t want to hear it.
A dead thing can’t forgive, but a live thing can, after all.

Most would argue it had all started with the accident. Senkuu would contest that the trigger must've been Chrome's innocent question. But in reality, it had started a long time ago, years before the petrification.
Everything was already set in motion even before Senkuu became an Ishigami.
“So who is it?” Again, a five-year-old Senkuu repeated (read: demanded) a bit impatiently. “Who do you guys see whenever you look at me?”
“You’re so silly, Senkuu-chan.” Gen smiled as he crouched down, meeting him at eye level with an unreadable look flickering through his orbs. “It’s always been you.”

“Another question for you, Senkuu-chan,” Gen says, still smiling but it’s happier now. Mirthful. “What would you do if I kissed you? Right now?”
Ah, Senkuu thinks then, I guess Tsukasa and Gen aren’t dating.
He considers his response, as well as this new piece of information.
He goes for the honest answer: “Die. Because you have a bit of peanut sauce on your lips from dinner, and I’m allergic to that shit. It’d cause quite the scandal if you murdered some poor, innocent high school student.”
Gen licks his lips. "Noted."
In which it's 2019 AD, and lately, strangers have been smiling at Senkuu as if he’s an old friend. Alternatively—three thousand and seven hundred years’ worth of memories in the span of eight months.

Summary
All had been good, all had been swell. That is until Tsukasa sensed something in the trees near where they had set up their moth lamp. When a figure stepped out of the woods everybody panicked, excluding Senku who took one look at the figure and cursed so loudly the others all paused in their panicking and turned to look at him. "Fuck no. Back to the lab and boat. Back to the lab and boat. Move you dumb asses, we are going back to Japan."
Everyone was confused but followed orders all while the figure dressed in some kind of gilly suit calmly walked after them. "Ishigami Senku." They all heard the voice as they climbed into their respect vehicles. Senku pales and looks at Ryuusui with what looks like a panicked face.
"Step on the fucking gas."
Or, Senku really didn't think his father's ex boyfriends would be up already and now he has to somehow convince his friends that going back to Japan is their best option.

SPOILERS for Season 4 ep 9 of Dr. Stone!
Gunshot wounds are dangerous. Gunshot wounds to the chest are downright lethal. The thorax is packed with vital structures, heart, lungs, and more blood vessels than anyone wants to count. So when Senku takes a bullet, he does the math. Odds of survival? Not good. Depressingly low actually, especially with the amount of blood he’s choking on.
But science isn’t about taking the easy way out. And Senku has never been a quitter.
OR
I completely redo everything medical wise that happens after Senku gets shot, because if Dr. Stone prides itself on science, then gunshot wounds deserve the same treatment.

Senku turns thirty-three on January 4, 5763. With his scientific team and Why-man, the time machine is almost complete. Soon, they will be able to return to their modern world. After his brief marriage to Kohaku, Senku is convinced of one thing. Science is the only thing he will devote his life to.
Love is irrational. Useless. Illogical.
That is what he believes... until he sees Tsukasa again after his long journey.
Since then, something is off.
Why does his body react like this when he is near the strongest primate?

The terms were simple: Ryusui funded Senku's crazy science projects, and in return, he got to get whatever inventions he wanted in the Nanami Conglomerate. Funnily enough, the pay was ten billion too high, making this strictly business-only deal ten billion percent impossible for Senku to refuse.
However, things changed when Ryusui decided to get greedier—and surprisingly, he could get greedier—Byakuya started setting Senku up on brutal blind dates. Needing a long-term shield to get his dad off his back, Senku decided to put the billionaire to work and use Ryusui as his fake partner.
When one feeds the greed, it wants a grander ship and demands the entire ocean.
