Izzy Hands is the owner, manager, and occasional bartender and chef of his own busy restaurant. He likes busy. Busy meant money coming in, it means keeping his body and his mind moving. Since Ed had fucked off and left him to run the place, he was busy all the time, but he liked it that way. No time to stop and think. Just keep moving, like a fucking shark. Sharks don't get bored, and they don't get lonely. They don't think about what's missing. And neither does Izzy.
Until one night he's stuck behind the bar making small talk (ugh) with a well-dressed man who won't stop calling him cute and being handsome and charming (double ugh). What's a misanthrope to do when faced with the full force of Stede Bonnet killing him with kindness?

Lucius’s eyes are searching his, and whatever he’s looking for, he seems to find it. He nods, nearly imperceptibly.
