“And boys will be boys,” I add. Are we finally having an intellectual conversation?
“We communicate best inebriated,” he proclaims through a wheeze, forgoing his usual eloquence. He clutches his stomach, sinks into my shoulder, and anchors his hands to my waist. There’s loud bass and chit-chat and the beating of about a dozen hearts, but I hear mine the loudest, and faintly, Ryan’s quickening pulse right next to my ear.
Ryan Ross is a dream I never want to wake up from.
