The smell of charred flesh was nothing new to Shadow. Uncommon, perhaps, but not foreign. Which in many ways made Shadow nervous; he could only recall a handful of times where he ever encountered burning flesh, but this smell struck at something deeper. In some respects, Shadow was terrified of what he could have encountered to leave such an impression.
Though, surely, he was more terrified by the way his mouth watered at the stench.

A body, feeling too small, forced itself further into the corner. Hardened brick bit into the spine, shadows hiding the form from the furious sun. A pain bit at the eyes, the red iris muted by watery pain. They looked away from the public, afraid to meet the pitiful gaze. They didn’t need this.
They didn’t need to see how pathetic he was.

Summary
Pulling his phone from his pocket, Shinichi went to dial Nakamori’s number but stopped himself at the last digit. The best hope KID had was in alerting the Task Force, Shinichi knew as well. They would be able to provide the necessary treatment needed for the thief to survive, but it would mean turning him in. It would mean an unsatisfactory end to a rivalry that was only beginning to grow. Shinichi had only recently stepped back into the limelight and had been able to face KID as his true self, the heist itself was one of the first attended by Kudo Shinichi. To call now would bring it all to a close.
KID heist goes awry, as it's wont to do. Shinichi decides he's going to do something illegal. He's rewarded with trust issues.

With the new arrival more problems begin to arise, a mysterious creature is reported to be roaming the streets, and something about this newly-not dead-person isn't quite right.
