He doesn’t say, please take me back. Doesn’t say, sometimes I wish you’d taken me back with you all those years ago.
But Lan Zhan shakes his head, small and deliberate, the tiniest, most devastating shift in the world. Wei Wuxian exhales audibly.
"Wei Ying. I have come to ask you to take me away with you."

Lan Wangji could not say, it will all be over soon. He wished he could, but this would be something they would need to live with, something they would need to heal from. Already, Lan Wangji could see how it was affecting Wei Ying, how it had shaken his already fragile confidence, his grip on his tangible experience.
He could not say that it would be over, could not pretend that this had never happened, that Wei Ying had not been hurt. What he could do, however, was love his husband. That was all. He didn’t need to do anything more.
