A home for all the stories that owe me rent. The ideas that have been taking up room in my head - so much so it owes me rent. They probably won't go anywhere but my mind keeps circling back to them.

Maybe not rent. But I'll take reviews instead...

    Summary

"Steve Harrington is used to touch in the means of getting something. Very rarely is he touched just because; and even then, it’s always so fleeting. He could have sex with the same girl, a new girl, a different girl—a guy, even; he’s not picky—but it always felt so mechanical, so necessary, like it had to happen and then it was over. The skin-to-skin contact was almost like taking an exam; he had to figure this person out, had to find out what made them loud and writhe, and then they’d say he was a good lay, but never return.

He’s sick of it. He just wants the touch to mean something. Or, more accurately, mean nothing in the grand scheme of things. Something simple. Something mundane. Something that said, despite it all, that the person was sticking around."

    Summary

“Steve, your parents are alive, gallivanting off somewhere, Paris or Rome or Bora Bora or whatever, remember?”

Steve shook his head no, back and forth, back and forth, back and – he kind of forgot why he was shaking his head.

    “Steve!”

Oh, right. Dustin thought his parents were still alive. That was totally on him. Oops. “No, buddy, they died last year. After Barb, before Dart. Car accident.”

    or

The Russians killed Steve. Only for a moment. But death activated a latent gene for seeing the dead. So, Steve gets to see ghosts. Which would be fine, if not for immediately getting accosted by the ghosts of his late parents fretting over him and Eddie Munson's mom begging for him to save him, all while dealing with being drugged up and the impending Battle of Starcourt.

    Summary

“Ok…well, can I give you a ride to wherever you are living?” Cogs are turning in Eddie’s mind, trying to piece together just what in the hell had happened to King Steve in the months since he’d seen him.

Steve doesn’t answer. There’s tear tracks on his cheeks, Eddie notices, and the dark shadow of a bruise blooming behind them.

    His alpha bristles.

Eddie leans in close. Slowly, so as not to freak the omega out even more. “Someone put their hands on you, sweetheart?”

    *****

On Christmas Eve, Eddie comes across a scared and hurt omega.

    It's Steve Harrington.

“And with Buckley away…are you on your own for Christmas?”

    “Yeah.”

“No.” Eddie shakes his head. “Nope, you’re coming with me.”

“Eddie – ” Steve argues as the alpha pushes himself to his feet.

“C’mon, let’s pack some stuff for you. Where’s your bag?”

“I can’t just crash your Christmas!” Steve protests.

    “Sure you can,” Eddie retorts.

    *****

Alone on Christmas Eve, Steve suffers from isolation sickness.

    Eddie's the cure.

    Summary

    JUNE 10, 1985
    MONDAY

“I’m just saying, if ghosts were real, they wouldn’t be hanging out in Hawkins!” Robin argued, feet swinging just above the ground from her perch on the counter they were supposed to keep clean to prep toppings for the ice cream, but three days after training ended, Steve had elected to stop caring about things like that.

He shook his head as he muscled out a scoop from a fresh (freezer-burnt) tub of sorbet. “You are so incredibly wrong it’s not even funny.”

Robin sighed in a way that Steve knew meant she was rolling her eyes, feet tapping an even staccato rhythm against the cabinets as she gently kicked back-and-forth. “No, I am absolutely right. If what you said about ghosts only being formed by super-traumatic deaths is true, then there’s literally no possible way that ghosts hang out in Hawkins.”

Steve couldn’t help but snort. The irony was not lost on him, for once.
