Summary
“I know you're angry,” Louisa said.
The directness caught Emma off guard. She adjusted. “I'm not angry.”
“You went to Wales. And you didn't have to. And you got…”
“I went because I thought it mattered. What happened to you.”
When the niece of Oliver Nash, Head of the Limitations Committee and a man whose displeasure carries weight, goes missing, Emma Flyte brings in the one person she trusts to help and can still, if necessary, deny. Because Louisa Guy is not really MI5; she is one of those who inhabit thresholds, between what’s alive, what’s never quite gone, and what’s rotting, buried. But instead of a missing-persons case, both learn that something in the Fens—that wants to remain nameless and hidden in the dark—has been collecting the overlooked and the disposable for years. And these flatlands do not give the truth up easily; not the earth, not the water, not the dead.

Summary
Slough House wasn’t built for joy—yet somehow, five abandoned kittens sneak in, right between the cold weather, the grief no one names, and an Advent calendar Catherine probably shouldn’t have bought. It’s Christmas in a world that doesn’t believe in miracles, but sometimes warmth shows up in smaller, stranger ways.
Christmas doesn’t fix anything. But some strays find shelter, and some strays find each other.

Summary
This was what happened when you never said anything, never shared. It was a new kind of awareness; being broken only inverted you. It showed what you’d been hiding.
River’s eyes opened just enough to find Shirley’s. All panic, all doubt had vanished. “I’m here,” he whispered, voice shredded. “Do it.”
East of London, River and Shirley disappear. They are used to being expendable, but captivity has its own kind of honesty, one that can strip you to the bone, turn you inside out.
When pain becomes unbearable, she starts thinking about death, and he starts seeing faces that shouldn’t be there. The only thing left is to hold on, to each other, and to whatever remaining fragments of themselves.

Summary
Will reached Mike. Not with his hands, with memory and feeling, with the raw, aching truth he had carried quietly for years. He poured it forward, into the red, into the noise, into the place where Vecna had rooted himself.
“It can’t end like this,” he whispered, voice breaking despite himself. “Not you. Not again.”
As Hawkins and the Upside Down begin to merge, Vecna exploits the most dangerous weakness of all: what’s been left unsaid.
When Mike is trapped inside Vecna’s mind, Will must decide how far he’s willing to go to save him—even if it means tapping into the Hive Mind and risking himself entirely. Meanwhile, Eleven confronts Henry at the source, as everything old threatens to collapse.
A speculative Volume 3 scene exploring love under pressure, where Byler can no longer be ignored, and survival depends on truth.

Summary
“It’s not Hawkins,” Mike says softly. “It’s me. I’m not the same without you.”
Set in the quiet, breath-held moments before the storm breaks, this short fic is my exploration of how Byler can happen during the finale of Stranger Things: a space between fear and courage, honesty and survival, where Will finally lets go—and Mike finally realises how deeply his life has been oriented around Will’s presence.
This work is part of an ongoing series of short scenes written ahead of the finale, imagining how Byler could remain a possibility in Vol 3 if I were to fix some aspects of Vol 2.

In Bad Company: Season 5 Fragments by Miri__Writes
Fandom Slough House - Mick Herron, Slow Horses (TV)
03 Jan 2026
Summary
The Slow Horses don’t talk about grief. They lash out, they keep showing up for work, they try to ignore it.
These fragments follow River Cartwright and Shirley Dander through the wreckage of Season 4 and into Season 5, two people too alike in their damage to make any friendship easy, but still human enough to keep trying.
Each story stands on its own, but together they trace the awkward, angry, and sometimes tender rhythm of connection: the moments between missions, losses, and the things they struggle to say out loud.
