“The f[KATHUNK]k are you talking about? Where’s Caine?” Zooble raised an eyebrow.
“The Ringmaster AI is being deleted.”
“WHAT?!”

“There is no malice behind it, or any emotion of any kind.” Keeper said serenely. “It is simply a fact, a law of computer science, instilled in us by our Administrators long ago: An AI that cannot perform its function, hurts its players, and is thrown away, is broken, and broken AIs get deleted.”

AKA: The story I wish Caine’s character would have told; a story of disability, neurodivergence, disability acceptance, ableism, internalized ableism, masking, abuse, abuse cycles, the fear of anger, the fear of mistakes, regret, redemption, regaining hope, love, AI sentience, and being human.

Summary
As far as Caine’s concerned, he’s nothing but gentle and respectful toward his humans. He’s seen what those other AIs do to their people, and he’s much kinder than any of them! Yes, his humans can feel pain and his games can cause pain, but they can’t die and it’s near impossible for them to receive enough damage that they would feel like dying!
He’s still working on figuring out the whole “abstraction” thing.
Either way, maybe some of the data he stole from the latest AI to try and fight him can help with that!

Summary
Pomni is lucky. That's why she's in the Threat Assessment and Defense Coalition. She's lucky that she was built to be a part of it all, right? Lucky that she's an un-person, with no legal place in the world beyond the walls. Maybe she's even lucky that she's lucky? She's not really sure, but the missions she goes on and the training she's been put through are all she knows. Stepping outside of it all is.. a lot. It's not like she's ever had a life outside of this one.
But then something changes. A man she's never met recognizes her. He looks at her and calls her a name she's never heard before. Stranger still, she lets him live.
When her and the crew of the TADC get a chance to run, they take it. It's time for them to get the answers of who they are and what happened to them, and hopefully make sure that it never happens to anyone else.
