Aoi raised her hands in surrender. “I know. I'm not trying to prove you're dating the Drifter. I just got the vibe that you might. That's all.”
He stared at his food. “Well, I'm not.”
Silence descended upon them. Far from relaxing him, it only served to wound him up tighter. He knew when a storm was coming; the wait was, in his humble opinion, worse than the destruction it wrought.
Thankfully, Aoi didn't leave him to his misery for long.
“But you do like them,” she said.

Chase looks at Robert seriously, like he doesn’t get why Robert’s still doing it. They both know the biggest reason is fifteen years dead. If Robert wanted, he could let loose. Stretch them out. Not hide beneath layers and layers like he’s ashamed.

"Fighting, mhm." Invisigal hums, stepping through the portal and glancing around the apartment, before zeroing in on the floor. "And that's why... Robert's belt is on the floor?" Her eyes then flick down to their respective hard-ons.
"Gross, didn't even notice that." Malevola adds on, vaguely disgusted.
"Fuck—" Robert snatches it off the floor and stands, pulling it through his belt loops in record time. "That was—"
"Like catfighting." Flambae says hurriedly, sliding off the counter. "You know, like when girls rip out each-other's earrings and shit. It barely even fits his scrawny ass hips anyway." Wrong thing to say to prove they weren't making out. Robert winces.

Robert is struggling now that he’s defeated Shroud, the last fifteen years had all lead to this, and now that its over, he not sure what to do. He should return as Mecha Man of course, that was what he had wanted wasn’t it? …Wasn’t it?
He's all but ready to push these thoughts away until a certain fiery hero begins ambushing his dreams, bringing all his problems to the surface.
Flambae’s eyes lit as his gaze roamed Robert's frame, sinking lower and lower until they finally rose back up to stare down his tired face. “Wow, you look like—shittier than usual today. What the fuck happened to you?”
Robert held out his hand, folding his fingers as he listed off points, “Dead phone, no alarm, oh, and an asshole shoved himself in my face as soon as I got to work.”
Flambae’s grimace shifted to a smirk at the shorter man’s words, “You know your…” He fingered the collar of Robert’s shirt, and he could swear the man's fingers were about to burn right through the thin fabric, the heat of them nearly searing his skin.
