Summary
It’s far from uncommon for the knights of Camelot to encounter unforeseen skirmishes- especially with the kingdom’s interpersonal history.
Typically, though, the majority of their violent encounters are against bandits, rouge magic users, and saxons. Typically, they don’t encounter entire small foot armies invading their borders while away on casual hunting trips

Merlin is the loveliest in the land and Arthur realizes it for once. -

Summary
Merlin was changing the world back to one of unity, fulfilling his destiny. Arthur was strengthening Camelot, leading and providing as he was born to do. They were saving the world together, apart. But every once in a while, every few weeks, in the rare moments between life and responsibility, they were together. And all was right.
I'm in an intense ABBA phase and this is the result.
Can be read as platonic or romantic.

Summary
It was then that Merlin heard a laugh. Chills prickled down his spine, and his heart stopped. It actually stopped in his chest – or skipped a beat... or five – because he felt it stutter back to life and pound like charging horses at the sound, because he knew that laugh. He knew it like he knew the gentle squeeze of Gaius’s hand on his shoulder, the loving press of his mother’s lips to his brow, and the ever-present whisper of magic along his fingertips.
When Arthur is killed during a run-of-the-mill bandit attack, Camelot fades beneath a permanent mire of spitting rain and fog. They call it: The Grey. Left behind, broken and bereft of his king, Merlin lives in a haze... until the day he awakens to find the sun inexplicably shining. As if it had never left at all.
A tale of loss, supernatural meddling, time travel, hidden identities, crazy twists, and love.

Summary
“This way” Arthur grunts, sprinting past and yanking Merlin up to his feet by the scruff of his neck. He pushes his manservant along to escape a dire situation with the bandits. Saving their asses once again.
They set foot onto a large clearing with a massive circular stonehenge in the middle; accidentally. But Merlin doesn’t have to know that.
Tomb of the Hidden Lovers. Arthur has been told since childhood that the land here is cursed by the tragic end of ancient lovers.
Where it’s said a magical curse is woven into the stones.
-OR-
A magical trap Arthur runs into sends him hurtling into a world that looks exactly like his own. With one teeny exception; there is no one. Not a single soul.Just Arthur all by his lonesome self.
Oh, and bloody Merlin’s there too.

Summary
Merlin saved Camelot with his magic—but the display was terrifying enough to turn even his closest friends away. Now, the people who once cared for him look at him with nothing but fear. He’s been replaced in Arthur’s and the queen’s chambers, scorned in the streets, and pushed out from every last one of his roles.
He drifts through the castle like a ghost, watching Arthur slowly restore magic to the kingdom—without him.
He tells himself it’s enough. That it has to be enough.
Then a visiting kingdom arrives—openly magical, warm, and welcoming. For the first time in what feels like an eternity, Merlin is seen, valued, liked.
He stayed for the promise of Albion. But maybe Albion has come—and Merlin simply isn’t part of it.

6 years later she has a perfect husband, and a beautiful kid - she's happy. (She has a cheater of an ex husband, a daughter who is a handful- but she does love them. Lonely isn’t quite enough to explain how she’s feeling)
Is it ever a good time to run into the priest you had fallen for years ago? Is it ever a good time to reconsider, if it had ever truly passed?

Summary
The next time Arthur doesn’t say thank you, Gwaine puts his hand on Merlin’s back, stroking down the long length of it, from the short curls of hair at the nape of his neck to the neat cinch of his waist.
“Thanks,” he praises, throwing a wink to an agape Arthur as he does. It’s wonderful.
So wonderful, in fact, that for the next fortnight, for every brusque word that spills from Arthur’s lips, Gwaine spills three sweet ones.
