‘Stop - Zoey - calm down - breathe!’
Saying it didn’t make it any easier - but Zoey tried. Even if she didn’t need to, even if it wouldn’t actually help her - but she tried, because it was Mira asking, and somewhere along the way that had come to matter to her. Somewhere along the way she’d started placing that above her own wish to see the stars - and that realisation was almost enough to set her off again, actually, but -
‘Zoey, please - here, uhm, hold Derpy, just.. Take a moment, okay? Take a breath.’
Rumi was there too, of course, and for some reason that made it easier, like if Mira was step one, Rumi was step two in a two step plan to being okay. And somewhere along the way, that had become more important than whatever she wanted, and for some reason, this time, that calmed her.
So she reached, but not for Derpy, or Sussie, for that matter, but for them.Or:

“ - t’sokay,” Rumi tries to assure Zoey, who's frantically hovering, but her words are slurred. “It only scratched me. I wasn’t bit.” Her back aches from where the werewolf had thrown her, but it’s nothing compared to the pain where its claws had ripped into her.
“Why’d you push me out of the way?” Zoey demands, and there is so much pain in her voice that Rumi wants to reach for her, but Rumi’s hand won’t do anything but twitch uselessly at her ruined side.
“Had to…” Rumi feels woozy, like she’s floating on a cloud, but she still manages a weak smile. “You were in danger… s’worth it…”
“Idiot,” Zoey sobs. “You’re such an idiot, Rumi.”
Rumi wants to laugh but it comes out like a cough, the sound thick and wet, as the red spills out past her smile in a rush.
Ryu Rumi was trained to be a Hunter just like her mother before her. Until one night a Hunt goes horribly wrong and Rumi becomes the very thing she had sworn to destroy.
Years since she fled Korea, Rumi firmly believes her past to be in the past.
Only she’s never been that lucky.

That's what the ad said anyways.
Rumi thought it was too good to be true, and too lucky for her to have just stumbled across. Either this place wasn't actually as nice as it seemed, or the two people living there couldn't keep a third roommate. Rumi shuddered to think about the countless reasons why that could be, her mind coming up with nothing good.
OR Rumi, a half-demon, has never stayed in one place for too long. She thinks she might finally be able make a life for herself after moving in with Mira, a vampire, and Zoey, a werewolf. The only problem: she can't let them know she's a demon.

Rumi decided a long time ago that when this moment came, she would meet her death gracefully. Her avenging angels stand over her weapons blazing. She would go quietly. Screaming would upset Zoey and only make Mira angrier.
She's glad it's them. There's no better sight than her hunters taking down the evil that haunts their world. Bad luck that Rumi is that evil.
She knows it’s time and Rumi is determined to spare them the inconvenience of her screams.
