They had happened months ago.
He had danced through that night drunk on victory, had attended Anthony’s much more successful wedding to Kate in August, had gone on to his second tour. He had returned to London just days ago for the new season. He had attended the Danbury Ball. He had spoken to Penelope on the terrace. He had gone to Mondrich’s and gotten drunk and punched Fife in the face and given his father’s sleeve buttons to a beggar and—
—and died.

What if Penelope stumbled into dangerous information that could harm the crown, the country, and herself if she printed it? And what if she had a very good friend willing to support her from the very first moment?
What ripple effects will this have, and not just to our plot-busting duo, but to the wider group of characters?(This idea came fully formed during a rewatch this weekend, and I couldn't stop thinking about it!)

The Selkie was a rough old pub, only a stone's throw from east London's best brothels and the working men they both served. There wasn't anywhere quite like it though, not with Charlotte running the place and seizing every opportunity she could get - even if it meant making deals with a gangster and setting his favourite barmaid in his sights to keep him sweet.
