Here he was, definitely about to cry because his husband was crying because their daughter was crying because of a vaccination she needed and would not remember and would be better for having received.
Keith murmured something into Lily's hair that Lance couldn't catch over the wailing—something low and soft and not meant to be overheard. Lily didn't stop crying, because she was four months old and completely uninterested in anybody's input, but she curled her small fist into the fabric of Keith's shirt in a particularly fierce grip, similar to someone who is furious but also, ultimately, not going anywhere.
Truly, her father's daughter.
You absolute disaster, he thought, with sickly sweet tenderness. I love you so much its genuinely embarrassing.

Summary
Keith and Lance have had an on again, off again, type of relationship throughout their years. From the start of being classmates, to strangers, then companions in arms, to becoming friends, then finally lovers.
Until one day where it ends for good.
Broken hearted, Keith throws himself into his work. Runs far enough away to avoid the feelings that chases hot on his heels. Working any and every mission possible, if it meant outrunning the anger and sadness looming overhead. Angry with Lance's choice to quit Voltron, angry with himself for letting him do it. Just overall, angry.
Lance's decision to quit Voltron didn't come lightly. But he wanted out of the limelight, to return to Earth to relax and hide from the hungry eyes of a galaxy that views him as some hero. As some trophy to fawn over. He just wants to blend into the background for once in his life.
The only issue is, Lance's chance at peace was disrupted by a surprise pregnancy, and Keith's choice to run away makes it so he never realizes he has a daughter until years later.
And worst yet, Keith just found out in the worst way possible: told last.

Summary
Keith has been freshly crowned king after his adoptive father’s sudden and surprising death. Along with the title, power, and kingdom, he has also inherited the prior king’s concubines.
He honestly wants nothing to do with the said concubines. In full transparent truth, Keith is part disgusted that the old man picked younger and younger mistresses throughout the years, but also, he just felt disgusted with the idea of it all.
He believed that hoarding the already rare and dwindling omegas into a locked harem was inhumane. That it was abusive. All around predatory. Disgusting behavior that he would not continue during his reign.
Which meant shoving the remaining concubines back to their homes.
Except one concubine in particular did not want to leave. That was how Keith became stuck with Lance. And perhaps Keith allowed Lance to stay in some turned about way to atone for the late emperor’s sins. For it was the fault of his predecessor that Lance no longer had a place to call home.
What Keith didn’t expect was to almost be assassinated by the said omega, or to even fall in love with him.

Summary
Lance’s posture has gone from somewhat respectable to bad to worse, and his attention span is slowly but surely reaching its breaking point, when the door in the back of the room slides open.
Blue and gray and black. Long, dark hair. A familiar set of eyes. The same faded scar carved along his cheek.
Lance jerks upright, nearly jumping out of his chair.
“I’m filling in for Kolivan.”
The words strike right through Lance’s sternum. And he didn’t even have his defenses up. He didn’t have time to prepare.
Although somewhere deep down, he knows that no time in the world could’ve prepared him for seeing Keith again.
or: Being stuck with his ex at a diplomatic conference for a solid month is super cool and very fun. Because Lance is over him. Obviously. He so is.
