    Summary

The water begins rippling again, this time much closer to his boat. For a moment, Phainon isn't sure what he's looking at—and then he chokes on his own tongue as the most beautiful man he's ever seen surfaces.

The man—the creature—brushes his hair out of his face. When he looks at Phainon with his golden eyes, Phainon shivers, sword nearly forgotten. He understands, now, why the heroes of myths tied themselves to their boats in siren-infested waters. He feels no better than them in this moment.

Phainon sees something no man should see.

"...My parent's aren't home. They won't be this entire week," he added, tone laced with caution.

Is he implying that he stays the night? No, obviously he is. But theres something else behind his tone, something Phainon can't quite decipher, yet he can still feel it. Phainon's heart beats a little faster in his chest. He doesn't even think to confirm with his mother before blurting out his response. "Yes. I mean, yes, I'll stay over!"

During summer break, Mydei is left with the house all to himself for the week.

“Phainon of Aedes Elysiae.” Aglaea peers at him, her gaze as sharp as daggers. He might just break into a cold sweat right now. “You mean to tell me, that you fucked him, when you were supposed to kill him?”

Phainon’s arm flies to the back of his neck, scratching awkwardly. He smiles crookedly. “Look, a win is a win! It worked!”

Phainon is set on a mission to defeat the prince of strife. It goes a little unexpectedly.

From where he was dangling in the man’s pinched hold on the back of his tunic, Phainon felt like an ant.

    He liked it.

“I’ll ask you again,” the giant said, drawing Phainon’s attention to his plush pink lips, “who are you, and why have you come here?”

Phainon swallowed and spoke. “I am Phainon, of Aedes Elysiae, here on account of my travels.” Before the giant had a chance to retort, his eyebrows already furrowing in confusion, Phainon continued, “I was told that the castle moved, but no one ever enlightened me of such a magnificent creature residing within its walls.”

Phainon does his best to woo the gorgeous giant he met on his travels— the giant, who just so happens to be the titan of Strife.

    Summary

They couldn't take any chances with a surprise pregnancy, Mydei had reasoned, for they were too young and too focused on furthering their careers. Sex was simply for stress relief, nothing more, nothing less.

(Stress relief, as if Phainon hadn’t gone one step too far, and replaced the birth control pills in Mydei's pill bottle with harmless sugar tablets.)

In his arms, Mydei went a strange colour. “Oral contraceptives aren't a hundred percent effective,” he reasoned, avoiding Phainon's eyes. “Must've been an unlucky day.”

Phainon and Mydei decide to have a baby without telling each other, because communication is for losers (well-adjusted people).
