    Summary

Steve Harrington has his life all figured out. By spring of 1990, he’s on the cusp of buying a home, proposing to the girl, and getting that picture-perfect vision he’s always dreamt of. But then comes the letter in the mail. The one that gives him an option that isn’t Hawkins, but Boston. Loneliness is a state of mind, sure, but it’s also smalltown Indiana.

Jim Hopper is, all things considered, content. Joyce Byers is now Joyce Hopper, and Montauk, New York is quiet in the way a seaside fishing town should be. Jim can taste a peaceful retirement on the horizon. At least until something washes up on the beach. Something that doesn’t belong and looks a hell of a lot like a Hawkins nightmare.

Eddie Munson is dead, officially speaking. And he lives life that way. Haunting the streets of New York City, surviving on drug money, stubbornness, and sheer force of will. After all, he’s experienced Hell, and he isn’t keen to go back. Nearly two years without incident and he counts himself lucky. But Eddie Munson’s luck never lasts.

    Summary

There is an indefinite loneliness in being the daughter of a victor, coupled with so much expectation. It doesn't matter that the sea is stained red each year. Her place in it is obvious.

Ceres Osprey's plans are simple: volunteer for the Hunger Games, win, and become something beyond a legacy.

But in the throes of the 65th Hunger Games, Finnick Odair, her greatest adversary and only friend, being reaped and consequentially winning was not part of these great plans.

Her hand is stayed for his sake, because they share a similar loneliness.

    Promises are made.

But as the sun rises on the 68th Hunger Games' reaping, Ceres forgets her promises. She knows how to play the game and to survive, but it isn't about her.

This time, it isn't about winning.

Some legacies are greater than others, even if it means her blood spills for it.

This spans in parts from the 58th to prominently the 68th Hunger Games.

    Summary

“I know you care about what those little twerps think of you, and I can assure you they think way too highly of you,” Eddie says with a wink, and Steve gives a half-hearted smirk for just a moment. “But look… I know I can’t ask you to stop worrying about those kids, so how about this? You worry about them, and you let me—actually let me—worry about you.

Steve pushes his hair back, and yet again, gravity instantly pulls it back down, since he’s looking at his feet. “…I don’t need anyone to worry about me.”

“Too fucking bad. Someone’s gotta do it, and it’s gonna be me.”

“Why?” Steve replies with a raspy laugh, shaking his head slowly.

Why? Why.” Eddie crosses his arms tightly across his chest, knocking his foot into Steve’s again with a bit more strength. “Because we’re friends, dipshit.”

--In which Eddie's got a reason he's been planning on leaving Hawkins since long before the world almost ended. The only thing keeping him in town at this point? His promise to be friends with Steve Harrington. And Eddie doesn't break promises.

    Summary

“Eddie, listen to me. You’re not thinking right now.” Steve shakily held up his hand. “You can have some blood, okay? I’ll give it to you. Just calm down.”

Eddie watched Steve slowly move towards the door, eyes locked with the blood dripping down his hand. Any semblance of recognition began to slip as he stared at his friend. His prey. He couldn't wait to sink his fangs where they belonged.
