Once upon a time, there was a thief of great renown
The thief had taken a prince for a lover, and so, the two lived happily
However, it was not long before the prince’s lordfather discovered their sordid affair.
Mortally injured by his sire, the prince had died in the thief’s arms, never to draw breath again.
…
Attracted by the thief’s cries of grief, a hero happened upon them:
“O young one drenched in sorrow,
accept this deal, and your beloved will be back
by your side as if it ne’er came to be.”
The thief and the hero sealed their agreement with a ring.
…But was that really such a good idea?

Ivan wakes up in a grass field full of red flowers. The air is warm and dry, and Ivan breathes it in, the ghost of rain still running down his face and the image of Till’s shocked face smeared in his vision. A beautiful blue sky looms overhead.
On his left, a boy with gray hair lays beside him, fast asleep. Ivan thinks surely even death could not be this cruel. Ivan swallows as he skims his fingers over the boy’s face.
“Till.” He says, too softly for anyone to hear.
Till stirs, his eyelids twitch, but he doesn’t wake.
Ah.
Ivan wonders which part of this is the bad dream.

"What-" Till stammers, as Ivan's deft fingers pulls his tie loose. "What are you- We're in public!"
"My, my," Ivan remarks, smirking. "What a dirty mind you have. Is this what you intended with your bribe?"
Till, budding lawyer, is trying to get his boss to take him seriously. This isn't helped by the prosecution, who has taken a strange interest in him. Luckily, he has a plan.
