Boy and boy grow further apart. Boy leaves boy. Boy does not get over it. Alcohol and overpass cliche returneth. Boy is lonely.

But Jayce doesn’t seem the type to want Viktor’s ire. Something about his expression, so open until now, is guarded — wounded. Viktor squares himself and makes a bold guess.
“You want to be good for me, then?”
The energy between them snaps taught as piano wire. Jayce looks at Viktor with open wonder, his mouth falling open. It’s as if he’s been seen for the first time, though now that he’s said it Viktor finds the idea laughably obvious. A man who sought out someone whose life he could improve doesn’t do that for nothing. Viktor is so relieved to find something self-serving under Jayce’s idealism.
“I would,” Jayce says, his voice a strained whisper.

Viktor wasn’t sure how long Jayce had been calling his name. But he could tell from the panic in his voice that it definitely wasn’t the first time his call had gone unanswered.
Viktor looked up from the clipboard he’d been scribbling on.
“What is it, Jayce? I am trying to figure out the error in our calculations,” Viktor huffed.“Viktor, I think I might be stuck.”
