Summary
When Techno and Wilbur, two twin brothers, finally get a ‘normal’ Christmas in their foster home with their foster dad Phil and their foster brother Tommy.
But because of past trauma in abusive households, this Christmas doesn’t go as smoothly as planned.
(But thankfully, because the authors are big on Christmas spirit, the fluff overpowers the trauma and everyone has a good time)

“Techno?”
The man hummed, eyes skimming the lines in his novel passively while scarred hands fiddled with the pages. He pulled his eyes from the text and looked at the boy standing in front of him, eyes frightened and wet with tears. "What's wrong?"
Small hands twiddled with their own thumbs, fingers petting over scars on the kid much too young to have them as he shook his head.
“Not going to tell me?”
Blonde hair shook violently with the dramatic shake of the kid’s head again. “No?” Techno asked. “How am I supposed to help if I don’t know what’s wrong?”
“You don’ need to know what's ‘rong to comfort me, dick’ead.”
Tommy has a nightmare and goes to Technodad for comfort <3

Summary
He can’t do anything for Tommy. He can’t bring him back. He can’t undo all the pain and hesitation in his kid’s every action.
What can he do for him now?
Shaking with anger, with wrath, with every bone in his body, he brings his hands together, with the rosary tucked in between.
And he prays for him.
Tommy is religious, Techno is not. And sometimes, you can only realize what you've lost after it's gone.

What was the kid doing outside? In the middle of the night no less.
This was normal behavior. This was a totally, completely normal thing to do. Tommy probably just… fancied a midnight stroll. In the cold and the dark. Or he was running away and was finally going to be out of Techno’s hair. (Or he had had another one of his nightmares, the kind where his face screwed up in pain and his entire body tensed up impossibly and he thrashed and kicked all in horrible deafening silence). He looked… He looked fragile, all knobbly knees and bony frame, like a fawn about to take its first steps. Well, maybe if the fawn had lived eighty lifetimes and gained the sunken eyes to match. Techno thought maybe he could see Tommy’s hands shaking.
