Soon enough, 15 minutes had passed, and Shane was now fully sitting on the sidewalk with this kitten practically in his lap, just begging for more pets. He knew his pace, and mile time for this run was thoroughly destroyed. Plus, he probably looked ridiculous, seeing as he was a 30-year-old man sitting on a sidewalk, fawning over a kitten, but he really didn't care. As he sat there, Shane thought distantly about some videos that Hayden had shown him. The ones where cats were just randomly sitting in a person's lap or running up to them and climbing their pant leg.
What had Hayden called it? The cat distribution system? He was pretty sure that's what his friend had told him… Was that what was happening right now? Could it be true? Had this cat, which could possibly have a family looking for it, chosen Shane?

Summary
Standing beneath the heavy, silver glow of the full moon, Ilya looked devastatingly beautiful. The harsh neon lights from the strip threw sharp, colorful shadows across his features, highlighting the strong clench of his jaw and the thick texture of his curls. But beneath that usual mask of Russian arrogance, he looked incredibly young. Almost cute. It was a soft, vulnerable side that Ilya never allowed the media or the fans to see, and Shane was the only one witnessing it.
Looking at him, a sudden, terrifying realization hit Shane with the force of an open-ice hit.
Fuck. I'm in love with him.
