Maybe if her dad had known his limits, had been willing to ask someone other than God for help, her mama would still be alive. But that was then, and Kate’s not her daddy. She knows she’ll never be the one to pull Seth from this hole he dug himself into, but if he won’t do it himself she can at least find someone to do it for him.
Sonja and Kate should get along, and in a perfect world they might have, but they both learned long ago the world is far from perfect. It's a miracle Kate didn't snap sooner.

Summary
Steve is an orphan training as a scribe in a town on the edge of a magical forest. He doesn’t know why Lord Pierce thinks he can obtain an antler from one of the magical deer that live in the forest, but Pierce offers to pay off all of his debts if he does. Bucky is a ranger, one of a long line of a family who specializes in bringing back rare, dangerous, and magical things out of the forest to sell to the wider world. He won’t let his best friend travel alone through a place with so many dangers.
But when Steve and Bucky spend the first night in the woods, Steve wakes up a foot taller, a lot heavier, healthier than he’s ever been, and gently glowing in the night. As they get further into the forest, Steve wants to solve the mystery of who he is as well as find what Pierce wants. Bucky just wants to protect the friend he’s always had feelings for.
When they come across family Steve didn’t know he had; to keep them from throwing Bucky into the deep woods by himself, Steve has to pretend he and Bucky are in a relationship. What Pierce wants conflicts with what Steve’s family wants, and somehow, Steve has to reconcile his old world and his new—and the conflicting feelings he has for his best friend.

It's just Steve Rogers's luck that his rival is unfortunately scorching hot, and if he were someone else entirely, Steve would, regrettably, love to bone him. He’s been annoyed by Barnes for years, on account of him being really good looking and also really good at what he does. But it’s worse now, because after a mysterious gap of nearly a year from gymnastics, Nick Fury waved his hands and just yeeted Barnes into the qualifiers, with none of the hard work and sweat that Steve has been putting in. It’s fucking infuriating.

Summary
The Winter Soldier is an enemy, then an ally, then a lover. He’s a mystery through it all, from his name to the face he keeps hidden. Later, Steve will see every sign he overlooked, every moment that should have made the Soldier’s identity obvious. He might wonder how he missed it, but he already knows. The Soldier couldn’t be Bucky, because Bucky has been dead for seventy years, and the possibility of his survival is too miraculous to consider. It’s the kind of dream that Steve no longer has enough hope to put any stock in, even when the truth is staring right at him. (Or: the Avengers contract the Winter Soldier to take down Hydra, and Steve Rogers falls in love with the same man twice.)
