Lance has to disagree with that assessment, Allura smiles at plenty of people, she's a smiley person. Hell, she's smiled at him that way before, like when they were both on student council for a while and stayed after to work on the banners for the dances and stuff. Those were the days... at the time he'd even had this silly little prickle of hope that she might like like him back. He hadn't like said anything about it or anything dumb like that – contrary to popular belief he doesn't like to go around getting his heart kicked. It just sorta seems to work out that way because it's all out there and fragile and stuff. He's working on it.
Still, the point is that a laugh can sometimes be just a laugh.

It starts small, some broccoli shoved from Shiro's plate to his with his friend's typically charming smile. Nothing too out of the ordinary, Shiro usually foists off most of his food onto Keith when they go out to eat together, always claiming that he's not that hungry, but there's still a little more intent than usual.
It doesn't help that he's got that gleam in his eyes that makes Keith check himself for open wounds.
Having a not-so-closet vampire for a best friend has a learning curve.

Shiro doesn't even bother to look up when Matt comes barging into their tiny apartment, flapping a colorful flyer around like he's trying to put out a fire. These things happen when you live with the human embodiment of entropy.
“Shiro! Look!”
Sighing, Shiro puts his book down and aims his best attentive smile up at Matt. “What have you got today?”
“Our destiny.” The flyer gets slapped down onto the beat up coffee table with a flourish, and Matt's boot follows it, leaving him posed like a ship's captain as he beams down at Shiro. “All our money woes are about to be ancient history.”
Shiro arches an eyebrow at him skeptically, but still leans forward to read whatever it is that has him so worked up today. “Win a romantic getaway for you and your spouse?” He squints at it and shakes his head. “I don't get it.”

Despite the fact that the smell of his dorm currently falls somewhere between 'armpit' and 'extra armpit', Matt is pretty pleased with himself - after all, it's not every day that he gets to make money off of someone else's hard work.
In this case, Shiro's.
And really, he doesn't even feel bad about it... it's not like it's extra work for Shiro. The guy just has to keep living his life and being beautiful and smelly, and Matt takes care of the rest. It's really the perfect plan, and it's all thanks to Just The Pits.

If someone had asked Matt two years ago what he thought he'd be doing after the war, he'd probably have said something like 'building super cool robots' or 'doing space shit with my super cool space husband' or maybe even 'sleeping for like eight years'.
