"Doesn't matter," Purple shakes their head slightly, letting go of the tension in their shoulders. "Because you don't even wanna try."
"It's more complicated than that," insists Red. It's like pushing against a brick wall. "I can't just drop everything and run away with you."
Purple begs; terrible and wretched and vulnerable, all in one raspy syllable.
"Why?"
Or, a week after Red signs the NDA, Purple breaks into Red's place in hopes of running away together.

The fic takes off from the events of Episode 1, with Red and Purple becoming/being the impostors instead of Green and Orange, and their ghosts having a proper (ish) conversation for the first time in years

Summary
Becoming a Nurse Aide at MIRA’s Skeld Branch Hospital was supposed to be Green’s ticket to an RN license and hopefully Med school. Sure, living with their distant cousin Lime is a test of patience, and hospital politics are a nightmare, but it’s their dream to become a health care professional! Not that they minded shoveling wriggling bait back on the family worm farm.
That is, until a Very Important Patient enters the picture and derails Green's focus. Falling for a patient is bad; falling for a VIP is a career-ending catastrophe. Green is about to discover that every/any kind of love at MIRA is messy and keeping up is going to take more than medical skill.
One ex-worm farmer turn Nurse Aide. One off-limits capitalist VIP. A whole lot of hospital drama.
