Summary
Luis smiled and shook the suppressant— or, at least, what must have been the suppressant. “I’ll make it cheap for you.”
Leon wasn’t quite in the mood for his jokes. He staggered forward, nearly incoherent when he asked for help, and proceeded to fall to the ground. His brain felt like it was cooking in his skull. Luis nodded and gently took Leon’s hand, quickly maneuvering his head off of the ground and onto his lap. Impossibly, Leon felt cooler. The suppressant was administered, and he was immensely glad that Luis still hadn’t left his side. If he was more conscious, he would have been embarrassed at their close proximity. He felt like a dog lying at the side of its beloved owner. Still, he curled closer, almost like he was seeking warmth instead of trying to relieve himself of it. Luis didn’t mention it, and only encouraged him to make contact with him.

Summary
“Have you ever heard of safe or poison?”
“Can’t say that I have.” Leon was exhausted. But the little twinkle in Luis’ eye was impossible to say no to.
“Well, it’s a little game where you pick a spot on your face that’s ‘poisonous’- whether that be your lips, your nose, your eyelids, what have you- and you keep that spot a secret. Then, you get your partner to kiss every part of your face, and after each kiss, you tell them whether they’re safe or if they’ve been poisoned. Your partner does the same to you, and whoever doesn’t get poisoned first, wins.”
“Sounds complicated…” Leon stared at Luis. A man of theatrics; his Don Quixote never lost his spark or imagination even after all these years. It was one of many, many things Leon loved so dearly about him.
“Sure, what the hell. I’m down.”

Leon cleared his throat. “You still with me, cowboy?”
Luis let out a little hum. “Sí. Just… out of it, is all,” his squeezed shut for a moment. “Everything still feels strange. TV static-y, you know? Like there’s someone or something tugging at the back of my mind, trying to pull me away from here…”Leon let him speak, but he noticed the way Luis’ gaze wandered again. He needed a distraction.
“…Hey, random question, but uh.. d’you wanna plant some daffodils?”
