“You’re a messy drunk,” Dean says into his hair, says it with so much affection. Sam smiles. It doesn’t sound like a criticism when Dean says it.
Time goes liquid but eventually Dean laughs, easy and unforced.
“My legs are going to sleep. Anyway, time for us to go to sleep.”
“Yeah,” Sam tucks his face deeper into the crook of Dean’s neck, “sure.”
“Sure,” Dean repeats, then gets an arm under Sam’s knees and, with a groan, scoops him up and carries him across to the bedroom. He dumps Sam a little roughly on his bed and Sam bounces against the mattress, giggling. Dean moves to turn away and Sam grabs his wrist.
“No,” he whispers. “No. You said you wouldn't leave.”- Language:

Left alone with his grief, he clings to what he’s lost, crossing lines he never thought he would in a desperate attempt to feel close again. It’s messy, quiet, and deeply unsettling, driven more by shock and denial than anything else, as he struggles to let go in the silence.

Then finally, his eyes trail over to Dean. His pupils are pin-point thin, and his hair is straggling in his face so Dean can’t see most of what expression lies there.
Sam usually wakes up from nightmares in one of three attitudes: confusion, fear, or calm. A scary, sense-prickling calm that Dean hates more than anything else. Resignation, almost.
Or: Sam suffers from nightmares and touch starvation post-Cage. They do their best to deal.

"You know that’s not what I meant.” Mr. Smith says into the phone, and he sounds exhausted. Sam doesn’t turn around, trying to give him as much privacy as possible, even if it’s imagined.
Sam throws his whole body weight into his next pull of the handle, feeling the budding sweat from earlier as a full-body wave, pricking at his neck and armpits and forehead.
Nothing. The door doesn’t budge. Sam’s trapped.
Or: Sam Wesson gets stuck in a supply closet with his boss, who's hiding out to fight with his girlfriend. Sensing the available omega that Sam's been into for months, Sam goes into an early rut.
