Zelda’s life might as well have ended the same day as her mother’s. With the pieces of the Sacred Triforce long since lost, the Hylian Royal Family was all that kept Hyrule’s enemies at bay-- the throne must be filled, and quickly. But when Zelda’s father makes a terrible offer, Zelda is forced to choose: her crown, or her freedom. Fleeing from the only place she’s ever known, Zelda finds herself working in the kitchens of the fearsome Chief of the Gerudo with only Link, a strange scullery boy, for company. But as tensions grow across Hyrule, Zelda finds that perhaps things are not as simple as her father and her history books led her to believe... (based on a collection of different fairytales!)

In fact, the phone, which had been lost somewhere amongst the glass and broken frames when Miles was not-so-kindly pushed through a second story window, hadn’t even been a blip on his radar. No, he’d been far more focused on the seventeen bullet wounds littered across his body, and the fact that, for some fucking reason, he wasn’t dead.

Zelda looked at her wrist closely for the first time. There was a ring of bruises around it, from the… the hand.
Even now, she was tempted to chalk the hand up to a panic-induced hallucination—but, no, now that she was out of the tree roots, heartbeat achy in her chest from gloom but still steady and calm, the marks on her wrists were clear. The hand, the same thing that had been pinning the mummy down, had grabbed her, hauled her up, up, up as she and Link fell, away from Link, away from her home, leaving her grasping at air as he fell below her and disappeared into a flash of green and gold. His gory fingers had brushed hers, so close but so far, almost but not enough, and then he was gone, and there had been nothing but the hand.She was alone. Completely and utterly, alone, high in the sky, with no way down.
Or, Link is missing, taken from Zelda after disappearing below Hyrule while face to face with a strange mummy, and Zelda will do anything to get him back. She just has to stop Hyrule from imploding while she does it.

He was so short that his feet didn't reach the ground, instead swinging back and forth with childish enthusiasm, and his hay-colored hair stuck up in every direction. He smelled of leaves and moss and was dressed in the strange colors of the forest, with a fairy tangled in his curls. Malon had never seen a fairy up close before, and she certainly hadn't seen one so comfortable with a Hylian. Fairies were good omens, bringers of friendship and light, but they were shy, and Malon had never seen one so content to curl up inside a Hylian’s hat-- but the boy wasn’t Hylian, was he? Green clothes, a fairy in his hair… no, this was a fairy child, one who was far, far from home."

“If you're not here for anything,” Dick says, voice low with a hint of exhaustion, eyes fluttering shut again, “I suggest you leave instead. We both know you’re not here because you’re guilty for what you did and I’m tired of fighting you. Leave— or stay, for all I care— but I’m going to bed.”
Jason scoffs, sounding almost offended. But Dick doesn't care— Jason doesn't want anything to do with them anymore, doesn't see them as family anymore, so why should he bother about the man?
Yes, Jason is his brother and will always be, but this time, he’s just tired of pretending that they’re family. Families go two ways— it's not a one-way thing.

Dick crouches to be at Damian’s eye level, and his voice suddenly takes on a brisk tone, one Wally associates so strongly with being assigned patrol routes that he twitches. “Wally, this is Damian, Damian, this is Wally. Wally is one of my very best friends. He is very important to me. You aren't going to stab him. This isn’t a debate,” Dick says, when Damian raises an eyebrow, “Or a rule. You can’t physically do it. He is much faster than you.”
“I know what his powers are,” Damian says, sounding annoyed, and also like he considers them to be a fun challenge.
“I would like it to be a rule,” Wally volunteers.

There’s a sudden, nervous silence.
