"Malon was nine going on ten the first time she met the fairy boy, sitting on the edge of the fountain in the center of the central square of Castle Town. He was so short that his feet didn't reach the ground, instead swinging back and forth with childish enthusiasm, and his hay-colored hair stuck up in every direction. He smelled of leaves and moss and was dressed in the strange colors of the forest, with a fairy tangled in his curls. Malon had never seen a fairy up close before, and she certainly hadn't seen one so comfortable with a Hylian. Fairies were good omens, bringers of friendship and light, but they were shy, and Malon had never seen one so content to curl up inside a Hylian’s hat-- but the boy wasn’t Hylian, was he? Green clothes, a fairy in his hair… no, this was a fairy child, one who was far, far from home."
Or, a re-write of a previous fic, ' Fairy Wings', and a look into the friendship between a ranch hand and her fairy boy once all his adventures are through.
