Under a much different circumstance, Eddie would have loved to have Steve’s eyes looking over him like that, would love to have that determination focused on him, but Eddie is very much dying, he knows it, so he smiles at Steve’s misplaced confidence instead, “High expectations, Stevie. Where’d you learn to swing like that anyway?”
“I’ll tell you,” Steve’s voice is a bit shaky, his tone wavering, even as he puts on a brave face, “but you have to stay alive, Munson.”
If he had more strength, he’d consider testing his luck one last time, tease Steve by asking if he swings for Eddie’s team, but- he’s tired.
Dying young. What a fucking nightmare.

Since the Russians drugged and attacked him and Robin, Steve couldn't stand to get inebriated. Anytime he felt vaguely out of control of his body, he shut down. So when he's drugged at a party, he panics and ends up telling Eddie all about the base under the mall until Robin gets there to help.

Steve has a PTSD induced panic attack from the Russians, and his friends help him through it.

It stops the playful atmosphere instantly.
Not everyone tells him when they have a Memento. Lucas had kept to himself, and Will had refused to tell Steve about his dream. Some of them just tell him, softly, I remembered number one-seventy-three, or I had a Memento, last night. Sometimes it’s easier to just mention that it happened, acknowledge it and move on.
And Robin, for the most part, had done this. She hadn’t mentioned the details, because she’s sure that Steve is tired of hearing them, doesn’t want to hear his death from another person’s eyes, another person who is left with his body for a day before the loop dissolves into nothingness.
AKA: In the aftermath of it all, when Steve is learning what happiness means for him, people start to remember his deaths.

Screamed as his flesh was torn apart, heard Master of Puppets in the distance and held back tears. Felt Max’s cold, small hand in his as she laid in the hospital bed. There are things that always happen, no matter how hard he tries: El doesn’t arrive in time. Eddie dies. Max is put in a coma.
Steve fails. They lose.
“Steve, how many loops have you been through?”
His head is nodding, and his eyes are watery, and Eddie has approached him like a spooked animal.
“I lost count.”

The last time they’d come home early was when the "earthquakes" happened, but they didn’t come home because they were worried. No, they came home because since he had been missing he was considered a suspect of murder. His parents had been furious, demanding to know why he was careless enough to let the family name be tarnished by his actions. Almost an exact replica of what they’d said the time before when they came home early because Steve had gotten suspended for getting in a fist fight with Billy Hargrove during basketball practice.
This time though there wasn’t a fight with Billy Hargrove. There wasn’t an "earthquake". There wasn’t anything other than the fact that for the past nine months he had been dating Eddie Munson.Steve knows they know. He doesn’t know how but they know.

Steve's parents find out that he's dating Eddie. He doesn't know how they found out but he can't take it anymore. He doesn't care what they think or what they do. Whatever happens, he can handle it.

The nofin was still struggling, fighting the vicious waves to breathe and call out in it’s ugly, guttural tongue. Will couldn’t speak it, but he’d observed enough nofins for long enough periods to know this one was calling for help. Will broke the surface, using the waves to conceal himself and looked around. The ship was still moving, getting further away from the member who’d fallen overboard. Didn’t they realize this one was missing from their pod? Hadn’t they seen it fall?
