“I was wondering if you’d go on a double date with me,” Derek says, rushing all the words out at once.
Stiles freezes, scanning Derek’s expression and wondering how exactly he’s going to get out of this mess. He doesn’t want to spend a whole night watching Derek and Erica stare lovingly into each other’s eyes.
But Derek has this hopeful expression on his face that makes Stiles surprisingly incapable of saying no.
“Who’s going to be there?” Stiles asks as he closes his laptop. There’s no way he’s going to be able to focus on his schoolwork now.
Derek looks at him with a careful expression. “Well, it would be us, and then Erica and Lydia.”

“You’re supposed to ask him to dinner, not tell him to dinner,” Malia agreed.
“Well, what am I supposed to say, then?” Derek asked, deleting the words he’d typed into the text box.
“Just go with the other one you said. Ask, ‘Do you want to get dinner?’” Cora encouraged.
“Yeah, that’s perfect,” Isaac said.
Derek typed it into the phone, then held it out for everyone to proof-read it.
“Now you sound kinda like a pussy,” Isaac pointed out.

“Just, wait.” Derek interrupted what was apparently the start of a convincing argument as to why he should rob the kid after all, feeling his head start to spin. “This is — it’s a misunderstanding. I’m — I’m not robbing you. You’re — you’re safe, okay? I’m taking three steps back. Just — just let me explain.”
“Explain why you came busting into my apartment? Yeah, go right ahead, man, I can’t wait to hear this epic tale.”

Stiles stares at his phone, because he doesn’t have a werewolf. Well, technically he has a crush on a werewolf, but that doesn’t really count.

Before Derek could refute his mate’s doubt with all the ferocity of his wolf, Stiles turned back to the bookshelf and continued searching for the book he'd been looking for. Apparently his mate wanted to play hard to get, but that was fine with Derek. He didn’t mind a challenge.
“Trust me. No one could be more interested in you than me.”

Summary
I had all these ideas for meet cutes (or meet not-cutes) but had too many of them to actually implement them into full blown stories.
So, dear reader, here’s a series of little scenes mostly just encapsulating a different first meeting of Stiles and Derek.
All stories will be one-shots and will stand alone. And most will have some element of inspiration from other media which will be linked in a tumblr post in the author notes for the individual story.
I'm also trying to not over-think or over-plot or even really re-read these fics before I post them, so there will likely be mistakes and maybe one day I'll go back and do some sneaky edits, but for now I need to just get these stories out to make room in my brain and calendar for other works in the mix! Much longer works too!!
If anyone is inspired to continue or revamp or remix one of these scenarios - here’s your blanket permission to do so! Just please link back to the original story as ‘inspiration’ for your own so I’ll be sure to see it and can shower it with the love it deserves!!
